Hello there, I am trying to plan my bath to st.jean from barcelona and was looking at train tickets on renfe (sants station to pamplona, then bus to st. jean) when I came across this message (see picture above) and I can't figure out what it means. Does anyone know what they mean by "will take place in cercanias"? is it a place? a stop? another train?

I believe that "cercanías" are the local trains, rather than the long distance trains.

It's a slightly clumsy translation, meaning that due to work being done on the line between San Sebastian and Irún, your train will stop at San Seb and you'll be transferred onto a local train for the last bit. The works were underway when we went through there in November and most of the long distance trains are affected. It shouldn't be a problem - you're only about a half hour from Irún at that point and the local trains are frequent. And everyone on your train will be transferring with you if they're not finishing their journey in San Sebastian so you can just follow the herd!

Edit: Oops, just noticed in your post that you're planning to travel to Pamplona. That's well before San Sebastian so you can safely ignore the alert along with my explanation above!!

As stated above I don't think this will affect you. I'm mainly posting to say if something like this comes up again not to be surprised if you transfer from the train to a bus to get by track being repaired and then transferring to a train again once past the construction.
