The Camino gods are trying to tempt me! Right now, you can book a ticket from LAX to CDG Paris in early May (before May 11th) through the summer (I entered 26 July) on AA or AirFrance for UNDER $600 U.S.!!! Leaving out of Ontario or Santa Ana adds less than $20. Haven’t seen those prices in years.

I found these prices on justairticket.com. Kayak.com is coming in a bit higher. And just when I had resigned myself to not going next Spring!!! AAAARGH!!! Help me resist…

Hope this news helps someone out there.

My wife and I postponed a trip through Italy for years until our beloved pointer started his final journey .

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Tickets to Paris will likely be less expensive on ALL carrier this coming Spring. The French economy, and in particular the Paris tourist sector, is reeling from the several terrorist attacks across France, starting late last year. Cancellations are up and bookings in general are WAY down from previous years.

Anticipated tourist numbers do not look good for the 2017 season. As tourism is a MAJOR segment of the overall French economy, expect a lot of travel bargains to France, generally.

I recall that this same phenomenon occurred for about six-months immediately following the 2001 terrorist attacks on the US. In fact, transatlantic prices went so low in the late autumn of 2001, that my wife and I flew to London for a long weekend to take in an Andrew Lloyd Webber play in the West End. It was cheaper that traveling from Washington, DC to NYC to see a Broadway show there.

So, flying in and out of CDG is going to be a relative bargain, as they try to bolster the tourist numbers, especially for "Paris in the Spring." Take advantage if you can.

While it is indeed unfortunate that this is what it takes to get airfare prices down to reality, any traveler would be silly not to take advantage while they can. Looked at it another way, the airlines would certainly take advantage of travelers if they could.

I hope this helps.

Thank you t2andrio. Flying less expensively is important to us on a retirement budget. I will keep closer watch in the spring for good fares in the fall.

Toronto to Paris round trip in March inc. taxes and fees is $411 (US) on Iceland Air right now. Sadly, I can't commit at this time. :(

A guide to speaking Spanish on the Camino - enrich your pilgrim experience.
$2500 each return fron Australia For next year. Geraldton to Perth, Perth to Hong Kong, HK to Madrid.

I am interested Kanga and Karen , do you purchase one way or return flights ?
Cheapest return to Barcelona from Melbourne is Aus $1774, Melb.- Do- . Ba. by Etihad noted by Tripadvisor this week .
Being tied to a fixed return flight scares me .

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
@Charles Zammit I purchase a return fare, giving myself lots of time. For a first walk on the CF from SJPDP to SDC I would allow 6 weeks. That factors in rest days and travel time. Sometimes I pay $100 or $200 more than the cheapest tickets to retain the ability to change my dates. I've changed dates a couple of times and it is not a problem as long as you are clear how much it will cost, and how that cost is calculated, so check with the airline before you commit to buy. Some airlines charge a flat fee, some a fee for every leg changed.

Next year I have booked a BA flight via Singapore and London to Madrid and return ($1600). I will spend 4 weeks in Spain, then to fly to London where I am meeting my husband and having another couple of weeks before we fly home to Sydney.
