I'll be walking the Camino in winter and have about a week in Santaigo, thoguht I would check out Porto as well. Does anyone know how I could get to Porto (Portugal) from Santiago besides renting a car?
Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.
I travelled from Santiago to Porto last year and it is a very easy bus trip. You can go straight from Santiago to Porto but we stopped of at Vigo to do an overnight detour to Bayona and then hopped back on the bus at Vigo.
I see Ivar has given you the bus timetables and you can see it only takes approx 3 1/2 hours . I think there is one a day and beware if you do take the train from Vigo, we were informed by the website that there was one train a day and it turned out to be two trains a week.
The bus was great, good value and the journey very pleasant and scenic. If you do stay in Porto then may I recommend the Hotel Pennisular ( tel ; 222003012) which is fab, all my comments on it are on the Camino Portugues forum on 'where to stay in Porto'.
