I wanted to share my experience using the luggage forwarding/storage service offered by Casa Ivar.

I flew from Dallas to Paris, arriving in Paris on March 29th. I’d requested DHL shipping from Paris to Santiago in advance from their website. My shipping label arrived before I left Dallas. I took my roll aboard to a Paris DHL office. While that was not necessary, I figured taking one potential failure point out of the equation was worth the walk.

I began my Camino on April 1 in Oloron, France, several days later I had an email delivery notification from DHL confirming my civilian clothes were in Santiago. I arrived in Santiago on May 15th and retrieved my bag.

On May 16th, I dropped my backpack and Camino clothes, sleeping bag, etc. at Ivar’s shop to be shipped back home as my wife and I were continuing our holiday for a couple more weeks. Today, the 24th my gear arrived home. Great service! Thank you!

One thing I learned. After watching Ivar’s video about wrapping your pack in plastic, which I did, the first thing they did at the DHL office was cut it all off, inspected the contents and then secured the zippers with tie-wraps. So, don’t know if that’s normal but that was my experience.

Thanks again for providing this great service.

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).
Thanks for the primary source review about Ivar’s storage/shipping service. As far as DHL cutting off your plastic wrapping, it must be a customs’ issue. I guess they have no sniffer pooches to check for contraband👀

No customs, Paris to Santiago. It may have been that office🤷🏼‍♂️. Either way, I’m a fan.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

I agree also . We have used Ivars service in the past and then this year with the DHL delivery from Pamplona to SDC. There was a problem at first w/DHL picking up the duffel . But it was resolved quickly with Ivar’s incredible office assistant Iria

I used Ivar's service as well, twice.
But, I sent my items to Santiago using Spain's postal service (Correos), since I landed first in Spain.
Yes, I wrapped mine in cellophane too.
Once, actually had a Correos supervisor help me wrap it!
Great service!
It worked splendidly.
Cellophane was still on when I arrived in Santiago.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
