Camino Portuguese (August 2nd 2018)
Hello!
I'm starting the Camino Portuguese on Aug 2nd and was wondering if anyone else would be starting their pilgrimage journey around this time? How busy is it during the Summer months? Similar to other solo female travellers, I am worried about being harassed. Although we can not predict these situations, it'll be nice to know there are others walking around this time.

Bom Caminho!

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
Bom Caminho, arajput!
While you may not be assured of fellow travelers, you can almost be certain they will be there. You didn't say where you would begin and my experience (or lack thereof) tells me that Porto will have more. Lisbon will have some, too, so don't be reluctant to travel. My experience tells me, too, that female travelers who travel alone have every opportunity that 'they" want to travel with a group for safety. As a male who travels alone, I can't identify with your concerns other than to say sometimes I have had female pilgrims "join up" for a day or so in order to just feel better about their journey. I guess my point is "never fear" there will be many opportunities to travel with fellow pilgrims and many to travel alone.....

Yes, from Porto! Thank you for your words, it allows for some peace of mind.

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
I recently returned from traveling Frances alone. I never felt threatened or nervous; and I always felt support from other pilgrims.
Before I left I was very anxious about traveling alone-not knowing what expect. What I found was that even if you walk on your own all day, which I often did, I found friendly, kind pilgrims every day of my journey.
I have no trouble with my solitary time, so I went with no expectations of finding companions or a 'camino family.' As it would turn out...I found both...and much, much more!
I have said this many times since I've returned home -- Traveling the Camino alone was the best decision.
Trust your instinct and be prepared for your walk, and you will be fine. Buen Camino!

Bom caminho.
