Camino del Norte
Hola todos,

The time has finally come for me to start my first Camino. I am flying to Barcelona on the 26th of June, first to do some sight seeing and then I will fly to Santander to start my journey. The one problem I have right now is that I have not yet received my pilgrim passport, and I'm afraid I'll have to leave without having received it. Will I be able to get one easily from the Albergue in Santander? I am also curious if anyone else will be starting their walk around the same time from Santander.

Cheers,
G

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
The alberge in Santander had a stack of credencials when I was there, you should be able to get one without any problem. The end of Jume will be a busy time on the Norte, you will meet lots of fellow pilgrims who have started in Irun, Bilbaao or Santander. Buen Camino!

Hello G. I'll probably be on Norte in a few days - most likely starting at Laredo which is a day or two East of Santander. I walked from SJPP to Burgos last year. But I think I want to see the cliffs and coast this year so I think I'm jumping up to Norte to continue west. Since you're starting in one of the larger cities, I'm pretty sure you'll be able to find a pilgrim passport. I was planning to continue with the passport I used last year. But if I see where you can get one there after I arrive, I'll try to get back on the forum to pass on the info.

Thanks for the info gents! I just have one more question, the albergue in Santander is the Albergue Santos Martires is it not? Will I be able to stay there the night before I start my Camino or should I find other accommodations?

You can stay there, if you want to be a martyr ;0) Why not walk that firt day to Santa Cruz de la Bezana to a much beloved albergue instead of the quite disliked on in Santander. If the timing works for you, that is what I would recommend. Either place will stamp your credencial.
