Starting in Astorga Sep. 12

Time of past OR future Camino
Sept 12 - Oct 2 (2018)
We (3 possibly 4 of us) are flying into Madrid Sep. 12 and then planning to start our Camino in Astorga. A few questions I have are:

1. Train - looks like our best option to get to Astorga from Madrid would you recommend booking in advance?
2. Albergue - where do you recommend staying? If we take the train it looks like it doesn’t arrive until 20:25, is it possible to reserve albergue ahead of time and if not will we have a problem finding somewhere to stay that late?

We are hoping to walk Astorga to Santiago and then continue on to Finisterre and Muxia. We need to be back in Dublin by Oct 2.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
There are several buses from T-4 terminal at Barajas to Astorga. You may find that easier than the train. The train station is at the bottom of the hill, so would would have a bit of elevation to cover at dusk.

Albergues will take you until about 10 p.m., so you can stay in one of them. Neither takes reservations, but you should not have a problem in September.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
