Suffice it to say I haven't yet stopped walking
There was a ancient Codex stolen from the Cathdral de Santiago de Compostela months ago; does anyone know the status? Was it ever recovered?

Thank you for your kind update. This has been on my mind since the theft; such a shame. Still praying that it will be recovered.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
It appears that the police have arrested people for the theft of the Codex. It's an electrician who was sacked and members of his family. No sign of the Codex but other articles that were missing from the Cathedral have been retrieved, and over 1 million euros

I saw a little update the other day saying police suspect the book is "hiding in plain sight" somewhere in the vast archives and museums of the diocese, until the thief finds the right moment to bring it forth. It is still suspected to be an inside job, a political stunt meant to discredit the current cathedral administration.

I suspect they may be changing their minds! According to Spanish television they have found 8 photocopies of the Codex amongst the man's belongings, and those of his family.
I am sorry I haven't posted a source but it is front page news in 'Voz de Galicia' and has been a main topic on the RTVE news, I'm just not clever enough to post a URl for either of these, not even sure that is what I mean (URL I mean :? )

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

I think there is a lot to be learnt from this story:

According to stories now coming out (RTVE) the thief stole the Codex from a sense of being badly done to. He was sacked, no-one has said why, but they now seem to know that he had been stealing from the Cathedral for years, even from the Poor Box.
He has been watched for a year, he was seen to leave the Cathedral with something under his coat on the day of the theft.
Surely if nothing else this is a lesson in: trust the police, they may seem to be doing nothing but they work slowly; don't believe everything you read in the press, the press will speculate, just to have a story.

There are various threads about crime and whether it is worth while to 'waste' time reporting to the police, as they don't seem to do anything. what's the quote? 'the wheels of God grind slow but they grind extremely fine' Eventually the truth will out. Trust, believe, miracles do happen!

(I watched 'The Way' last night :!: )
