Chemin du Puy & Camino Francés (summer 2014), Chemin du Puy & Camino Francés (possible summer 2019)
I'm visiting Spain in March, and plan to do the camino this summer. Are there any supplies that I might get in Spain while I'm there, that might not be available in the US, or would be cheaper/more convenient to get in Spain (like the Altus Atmospheric poncho)?

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
You can pick up the ALTUS at the Sporting Goods store in SJPP.
You can pick up pretty much anything else you need there as well, including walkings sticks, clothing, etc.

Oh! but I see you're doing the Le Puy route?
I'm not sure about buying items in France.

If possible you're better off buying things in advance.

If you buy it in advance you can be sure the stuff fits you.

Be sure it doesn't cause you any problems.

You can train with it.

Very light, comfortable and compressible poncho. Specially designed for protection against water for any activity.

Our Atmospheric H30 poncho offers lightness and waterproofness. Easily compressible and made with our Waterproof fabric, its heat-sealed interior seams guarantee its waterproofness. Includes carrying bag.

€60,-
Decathlon is a large Sports' Store which is French but has branches all over Spain as well. They are reasonably priced and of good quality and, in Spain, cater very well for all your Camino needs.
Nearly all the Spanish whom you see on the Camino wear "Quecha" gear - that is one of their labels.
For ultra-light gear you and more specialist equipment you are better off buying in the USA or Canada.

I concur with Freescot about Decathlon, at least for us in Holland the prices are far cheaper than local specialty stores. As an example I bought a wind and waterproof softshell jacket for about 50 euros whereas the prices in other stores were way over 100. For my first Camino I even got tech t-shirts for 6 euros (normally 25).

I don't like their shoes/boots or pack packs but you will see many Spaniards, Italians and French in everything Quechua.

Decalthon does sell other brands of boots etc. Including some higher end brands. Prices can be cheaper then other companies. But like any retailer you need to compare.

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
