The Contrary Way
A 30 Day Inspirational Guide to the journey back to yourself.

Day 3 - Wear comfortable shoes.

On Day 1 we talked about confirming with yourself that you made the choice to be on this journey. Be sure to write down what you are being so you don't forget. ie I am a pilgrim. I am at peace. I am a writer. etc. In my journal I wrote several intentions for this walk.We also talked about checking out what's in your backpack. It doesn't matter whether it's life baggage or clothes what's important is to observe what you are carrying. Awareness is the key. Did you look in your dresser or closet to see what clothes you could give away to someone less fortunate than you?

We are walking 800 life kilometers in 30 days. As you walk on this section of your life journey you will want to care for your feet. With each step, you create the possibility to get closer to yourself but you must take each step. You can't miss any of them. If you do, chances are that you will have to go back and walk them later in life. And if your feet are blistered or they hurt, it's not as much fun! I know.

On my contrary Camino I was wearing the most comforatable boots I've ever owned. I stopped by a stream and sat down to take off my boots and socks to air my feet. There was a pilgrim there named Lena from Sweden. We talked and talked. I put my feet in the cold stream and forgot that the water was softening my skin. She was at peace and happy to be almost at the end of her journey. I was anxious and concerned because I was just at the beginning of mine. After a long rest I put my socks and boots on and we parted. Within an hour of walking my feet were burning. I knew I was in trouble. I took my boots off and found that several water blisters had already formed. I realized there was nothing I could do now but wrap them and keep walking. Later that day I soaked my feet using an ancient pilgrim recipe for blisters: warm water, vinegar and sea salt. Ahhhh.

Wear comfortable shoes. Take care of your feet. Walk everyday.
Tomorrow is about having an open mind.

Love and light,

Sue
