- Camino Frances, Le Puy to Conques, Via Francigena
Hi. Not long ago in March 2010, a chance to revisit the Camino presented itself. After having last been on the Road to Santiago twelve and a half years ago in 1997, I eagerly accepted the opportunity. This time, however, I got to lead a small group of pilgrims along the path from Leon to Santiago. It was fascinating to see what had changed and what was still recognisable. It’s remarkable what a different set of eyes now sees. Still, there was the mystery of the journey and of Santiago itself, which had partially unveiled itself.
During our journey I photographed and wrote material for a fully illustrated guide to the Leon – Santiago section of the Camino which I have now published in e-book format. Camino Journeys is available from my website http://www.goodwalkingbooks.com and the e-book also contains a fully illustrated guide book for the Le Puy to Conques section of the Route St Jacques in France.
One of the fundemental questions for pilgrims is “What will happen to me when I get to Santiago?” This you can only answer for yourself, and the effort taken will be well worth it. – Almis Simans
