The Romance of the road

Is it? Is it finding whats over the hill and around the rivers bend. Did you find what your looking for?
All roads go somewhere
No road goes nowhere...

Did you pick up some souvenirs along the way
Did you find your voice
Was your breath taken away?

Looking out windows was not the same as walking down a quiet lane
The sound of wind, the feel of rain
The bite of cold on a frostbitten morning

I cant forgive the years for my losing souvenirs
Graveyards of seasons and the ravages of time
Broken hearts and dirty windows washed clean by whisky driven tears...

But always the road
Miles slip away from me
And time slips

The vision from rheumy eyes comes clear
Between one breath and the next
The music..aching,longing and becoming ever clear as that place slips away into the dream
And one step toward far horizons begins

Off you go Pilgrim!
