There are several trains daily from Madrid to Pamplona. You can usually wait right up until the hour of travel to buy a ticket ... just don't try this on a holiday. You can even buy a ticket on the train ... but that's a cash only proposition.
The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
