I'm a newbie.....
Hi All,

Anyone have advice on how to get from Santander to Garabandal and from Garabandal to Burgos.

I intend to walk from Burgos to Leon next May '19, but would also like to visit Garabandal on my way to Burgos. I could hire a taxi but that would be expensive and I can't find any public transport. I could hire a car but I would be weary of driving in Spain. Any advice would be welcome, thank you...

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
There are buses that go from Santander to Cosio, the city just beside Garabandal (less than 5km). Company is called ALSA. If you do a google maps search Santander to Cosio you will find out a fair amoun of options :)

Also, Garabandal-Cosio are very close to Quintanilha and Lafuente, in the middle of Camino Lebaniego/Vadiniense. If you have two days to walk, you could also visit the Lignun Crucis at the Monastery of Santo Toribio de Li'ebana. If you have more days, the Camino Vadiniense ends in Leon, the city you were planning to visit :)

Probably the best to get to Burgos would be to bus back to Santander and then new bus to Burgos. It would take around 6-7 hours. You can do that both from Cosio or from Potes (near the Liebana monastery).

Thanks for your help. I am on a tight enough time frame. I was hoping that there 'local' way of getting from Garabandal to Burgos. I will try and get the bus to Cosio and maybe a taxi to Garabandal. I would prefer not to travel back to Santander only to travel then on to Burgos. I would like go directly from Garabandal to Burgos and start walking from there.......who wouldn't. It may well be the case that I will have to travel back to Santander but if I can avoid that , it would be better.....maybe I will meet some people in Santander who are travelling onto Burgos and may be willing to give me a lift............has anyone tried hitching?

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.
