My husband will be joining me on the last 100 km of the Camino from Sarria. His best option is to fly from Madrid to Santiago, the get to Sarria. I've seen posts regarding taxi service (Ivar's?) from Santiago to Sarria. Can anyone shed any light on this....how difficult is it, can we reserve ahead, etc? He isn't real keen on not having things lined up (not a "seat of the pants" guy at all). Any help would be appreciated.

Bern you were correct twice. I took the trenhotel from Barcelona to Sarita in 2015. And I have been researching trains from Madrid to Sarria. It's almost 6 hours and there are several each day.

In November 2019 I got a bus from Santiago airport to Lugo, a very frequent service from the airport forecourt at that time., but may have changed a bit due to pandemmia and infrequent flights . To continue there was a bus service from Lugo to Sarria. I did opt to spend the first night in Lugo, a lovely walled city to explore, I may be wrong but public services from Santiago to Sarria did seem a bit thin on the ground but it may be that my arrival time did not coincide with them. I do appreciate your husband's concerns. Travelling alone, aged 81, I too needed the reassurance of having everything pre-arranged. Alas the spontaneity of youth has fled!
