My friend and I are planning to trek the Camino Ingles May/June 13. We are both 63. He is in good shape and I'm in fair shape (ex smoker) . Both of us are preparing by walking long distance and carrying packs with about 20 pounds of gear. So far all of my walking has been urban in nature, some up, some down, most level, 5 to 10 miles at a time with traffic signal breaks. We will have 10 days to do it, which I'm sure is more than enough time to smell the roses along the way.

I'm reading that parts of the Ingles are quite steep. My questions are, Cinque Terre steep or Alsace steep. Will my training be enough. Can the long day , 29+ k, be broken into to 2 days and where can we stay for the night if it can. We are open to any kind of accomidations and have camped rough before.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

The stage from Betanzos to Hospital de Bruma can indeed be broken into two stages and that is explained. Using local transport you can break the route up into much smaller stages.

The elevations have a little bite to them but are not mountainous. In addition to walking over to Bruma (above) you have to walk up hill to get out of Pontedeume on day 2 and out of Betanzos on day 3 - both take about an hour or so and are perfectly walkable.

Buen Camino

No rooms in Bruma tonight. Anywhere. Is it cheating to take a cab 10k away to get a place to stay?

Hello all, I'll be walking the Camino Inlgés staring 21st May, along with my husband and my mother. My husband and I are relatively fit, in our mid-40's, and my 75-year-old mother is somewhat fit...
