Currently in Fontanillas de Castro after walking 4 days since I started in Salamanca.

The weather has been fantastic sunny without being too hot. The forecast is looking reasonable too. Excess water on the paths here from the wet weather earlier mostly gone.

No problems with diversions for new roads or train tracks so far. All clearly signed. Looks like a few km has been added to route. A few times the junta signs have differed from the usual camino signs in which case I followed the usual signage with no issues.

The Salamanca albergue is currently open from 12-1 to drop bags and then from 4pm. The Zamora albergue currently does not open till 2:30 pm. The Albergue Casa Susa at Huelmos is great with the sweetest woman running it.

So far there has been a lot of walking near the highway and navigating road junctions. Apart from that nice easy walking on quiet flat dirt tracks. This section of the path is really quiet at the moment. I have only met up with other walkers on the path a couple of times. There have been 5-6 walkers in the albergues at night, mostly the same set so far. Tonight I thought I had the albergue to myself until one other guy turned up at about 6:30.

Cheers Paul

You will have wonderful view once you get to Galicia. The weather has been wonderful lately. It was so wet when I started in Sevilla in March. Buen Camino!

In Astorianos now on the Santabres. The weather has continued to be great, no rain. The path has been a lot nicer and more varied since my last post.

I think I was in a trough in terms of pilgrim numbers the first few days as after walking a couple of longer days I am now seeing a lot more pilgrims.
In Tabera municipal the albergue was full with 13. Great fun communal dinner and breakfast. Real camino spirit.
Santa marta full again with one pilgrim grabbing a spare mattress. Lovely alburge right next to fantastic church. If church museum is closed albergue may be open to anyhow. Check in later when museum opens was 5:15 on Sunday.
Rionegro another lovely restored albergue. Down to 9 pilgrims. One of the best pilgrim menu meals I have had at the restaurant across the road. Amazing value.
The path between Rionegro and Mombuey very swampy muddy after a week with no rain. I would consider walking up the road if wet weather. No signage around new route over Ave after Mombuey but no issues if you follow the foot prints on the track.

In Astorianos now. About 14 pilgrims most of us on overflow mattresses on the floor. Proper matresses and very comfortable not gym mats as I read somewhere.

Cheers Paul
