Hi filly. I will start my first Camino from Lourdes on 31st Aug. we may bump onto each other. Buen Camino!

Thanks for this. The only place we might meet up is in Puenta la Reina... Are you planning on continuing into Spain ie combining le Chemin and the Camino? I now know that I begin on 27 August. Eurostar from London to Avignon, short train journey to Arles and off I go. Much simpler than flying to Marseilles.... and so reasonable!

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
I will be walking through SJPdP (not through Jaca) and then continuing on to Santiago. Arles was a very tempting starting point for some reason, but it would add another 4 or 5 weeks to my already extended 7 week leave from work and wife... so, not this time around!

Not sure.. But I do not think there is much of a difference in timescale starting in Arles as opposed to Le Puy en Velay. I just want more of an adventure and fewer pilgrims... Also to see St Guilhem le Desert and another Pyrenees crossing.

Eurostar now booked for 26 August direct from St Pancras to Marseilles but I will get off at Avignon and stay at Pop'Hostel and train to Arles on 27. Quick visit then off for first days 21kms booking ahead. I plan on 32 days walking. End point Puenta la Reina, then bus to San Sebastián and bus to Bilbao. Three day stay at Gran Hotel Domine Bilbao opposite the Guggenheim. BA flight back to Heathrow is even cheaper than Easyjet!

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
