Vigo to Rubiaes transportation

Hi, we will be walking part of the CP the first week in April. I initially thought we would start in Tui but it looks like we will have enough time to start from Rubiaes. Any ideas on transportation options from the airport in Vigo to Rubiaes?

Hi Mike. I quote my good friend and forummember Diogo !

You have a new service inaugurated last month ( summer 2013) , of a train called "Celta" that goes from Vigo to Porto (and stops in Tui). From Tui you have to take a taxi or maybe a local bus to arrive in Rubiaes. Better is to go to Ponte de Lima and start from there so you won't miss the most important "challenge " of the Portugese Caminho.

Check in RENFE(.es) or in CP (.pt) websites.

I've searched and searched everywhere, and I couldn't find any bus service either from Valença or from Ponte de Lima to Rubiães. Rubiães it's a very small town, it's like a village, and for what I remember the majority of the people use their own cars to do what they need to do.

A taxi could cost you probably 35 to 40€ either from Valença or Ponte de Lima to reach there. I think that you should start from Ponte de Lima just has @Albertinho said.

Rubiaes is less than a small village Diogo ! But they are very inventive overthere.
After finishing the alto Portelo Grande we arrived down with the steam coming out of our ears and checked in at the first hostal we encountered ,hostal Sáo Rogue However no oportunity to eat something for diner around ,except for a local bar annex groceryshop round the corner where they thought we were aliens and only served a sandwich and a bag of potatochips (lots of beer and aguardente I think )
But at a certain time arrived a big 4x4 car with the chef of a restaurant behind the wheel, taking us to a restaurant about 3 kms further down the mountain and after our traditional bacalhou meal they took us back to the hostal. Great service

Can't remember. we were happy to be there after the tough day and found something to eat.
Viewing some pictures I am sure it was bom Retiro.
So to all future perigrinos. Restaurante Bom Retiro in Rubiaes. Highly recommended !!!!!

You can also check your Credential

It's a very good restaurant, every pilgrim go there to have something to eat. After getting out from Portela Grande, it's the only place almost untill you reach the outskirts of Valença, that you can eat something.

For everybody who is going to read this, try the light salads. The chicken one it's very good!
