Time of past OR future Camino
August
Hi everyone! I’m planning on arriving in Vigo tomorrow to begin the Camino towards Santiago on Sunday. Have I left it too late to find accommodation in Vigo? Will I be able to find somewhere tomorrow night and be able to organise my bag to arrive at the destination? Feeling a bit anxious as a solo female. Also haven’t planned a thing so not sure if I’ve left it too late….

It would surprize me if you weren't able to find somewhere. Gronze has a list of pilgrim oriented accommodation here: https://www.gronze.com/galicia/pontevedra/vigo#albergues. The Xunta albergue won't take bookings, but most other places seem to be hotels, so one would expect they could be contacted to see if they have rooms available.

Dougfitz....my wife and I will be walking from Lisbon to Santiago over Aug/Sep next year. My wife's sisters would like to join us for the last 100km. At this time I'm assuming their start point would be with us on our arrival in Vigo. I'm reasonably confident that Vigo will qualify them for a Compostela (as noted by Brierley in his CP Guide; however, my Wise Pilgrim app has Vigo as seven or eight kilometres short of the necessary 100. I've not been able to confirm, either way, via the oficinadelperegrino.com site. Would you have reference to anything authoritative? Cheers.

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

Its not a question I have asked the Pilgrim Office. Like you, the various sources I can access don't present a consistent view. Looking at mapping in the two most recent credentials from the Pilgrim Office, there are considerable differences in the distances shown for the various towns along the CP. For example, in one, Redondela is shown as 78 km from SDC, the other it is shown as 85 km. In both, Porrino is shown as 100 km from SDC. Both have a statement that for the Variante Espiritual, the minimum distance requirement is met starting from Vigo or Porrino. One set of maps shows Vigo is 101 km, the set in the other credential is silent on that point.

Whatever guide books, apps, pamphlets, credentials, fitbits, travel agents, tour guides etc say, any stamp from Vigo will officially be regarded by the pilgrims office as 100km.

Vigo is a valid starting point to qualify for a Compostela.
Thanks Flog...feedback appreciated!
