Walking for Moffitt March '09

This will be my first year out of cancer treatment and am preparing to walk the Via de la Plata. I have wanted to this for 18 years...ever since reading The Pilgrimage by Paulo Coelho. I am feeling euphoric and rather emotional at the thought of a long walk through such a beautiful place. I also decided to do this as a fundsraiser for the Moffitt Cancer Center...in hopes this experience will be beneficial for others, as well.
I feel well and hope some of the physical challenges I face, due to extensive surgeries, will be easily overcome. It's all part of the healing process...and time to satiate the spirit.

Hello and good luck on the Camino. Your story is inspirational. On my own Camino, I met a fellow who once had cancer on his feet! He said his doctor at one point said he would never walk without the aid of a cane or crutch...a few years later, he walked 500 miles on the Camino!
