Walking poles

Time of past OR future Camino
May 2016
Can anyone tell me if they have any experience of taking walking poles in hand luggage with Easyjet?

I was planning to check in my rucksack with poles folded inside (they fit easily).

But I've now reduced my bag size so much (7kg.) I could take it as a carry on.

Will Easyjet let me take the poles on inside my bag?

There are many threads and many different opinions about this. In many cases airlines list poles as prohibited items because of the metal tip and long shaft, which can be used as a weapon. Others will tell you that they have got through security with folded poles without problems - but not flying out of Santiago. The best thing to do is read what their website says about them and act accordingly. If they are prohibited and you know where you are staying the first night you can send them there before you go, or pack them in a tube and check them in.

I think the safest is to ask them.
I have a flight booked with EasyJet and their site says specifically that you much check them. And it was going to cost 29 euros. I added up the different flights that I will be taking in July that include walking the Le Puy route and for the extra cost (and hassle) of packaging checking the poles I could just buy a pair in Le Puy and donate them to another pilgrim. So that's what I'm going to do. I hope that helps.

Have you checked with EasyJet?

I checked with Easy Jet last Sept and the answer was a NO, so I put the in the back pack and checked it in.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Walking Poles. I flew Ryanair and my poles were confiscated as hand luggage. They allowed me to go back out of immigration and check my poles in as.l extra luggage ànd an extra cost should have been incurred but they kindly let me check em in for free. My suggestion is to collapse your poles and put them in your normal luggage.
