Time of past OR future Camino
Planning our first Camino with our twin grandsons who are almost 12. Walking mid April-May(2018)
This our first Camino. 4 adults, 60yo, walking with three 11yo grandsons. Any advice? We are flying from Utah USA to London, then hopefully flying to Biarritz and traveling from there to SJPP.

Ideal pocket guides for during and after your Camino. Each weighs just 40g (1.4 oz).
Howdy Pilgrims,

I've seen many families finish the Camino, and as long as you all pace yourselves and mind your injuries, I don't see why you all won't make it to Santiago. If you search this forum, you should find many sound and helpful answers to your questions, and there are YouTube vids called Don't Stop Walking that are very entertaining and have many tips that you can use on your Camino. Of course, feel free to post specific questions as well.

Buen Camino!

Hey and welcome here.

Do try specifically here to search for the posts from @Kiwi-family and @shefollowsshells whom both walked with their children. They have a wealth of information to share.

I remember some posts from Kiwi-family that said they gave the kids rotating responsibilities - one would be the lunch maker/prepper another would write the days journal... seemed a good idea - and interesting afterwards to see what each kid wrote down that had caught their attention!
Good luck - i expect it will be an experience that stays with them for life - the good and the bad..! Tis all grist for the mill..

Avoid being a controlling parent. By age eleven, either they have been raised right, or not. It is a very safe environment. Let them be independent. I took my 4 year old grandson, and he needed more control, but he still talks about it almost every day. It will be a memorable experience. Make the memories good!!

What a wonderful memory! How far did you walk with your grandson?

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.

Wow! You took a 4 year old? I'm impressed. How many km/miles did you go and how long did it take you? Did you stay in Albergues? I'm wondering if the environment will be suitable for kids. The boys are awesome, independent and in excellent shape. We are doing the CF..hopefuly in 30-35 days
