Every day of that Journey I will be "competing against someone" - that's a given from the get-go.... and that's also is a huge part of what makes The Camino THE CAMINO!May 26 is Ascension, you may be competing against some holiday hikers that week.
Mine is the only one that countsYour ducks may all be in a row, but do they have their Covid certs with them?....
Yeah sorry about that. I know people rant about United but for most part I had more problems with Delta\AF than united. Last year I bought tix for my wife and I to go to Barcelona and roughly 1.5 months later the price went down 45%. I called United and they told me that since I bought directly from them they will refund the difference (and they sure did).Slightly envious of that $325 EWR-CDG fare and wish that United discount code had been available when I booked my BOS-CDG flight (on Delta/Air France) for the first week in May a few months ago - I paid almost doubleOne of those times when my penchant for advance planning didn't pay off! Buen Camino to you!
Still keeping my fingers X-ed and somewhat holding my breath, but.....short of some brand new totally crazy COVID-related restrictions and\or any personal unforeseen circumstances all my "initial" planning is now completed (1 year later than originally planned but I shall NOT complain). The following now are booked:
1. OW flight United EWR --> CdG Wed May 18th (BTW United is running a sale to flights to Europe Use coupon code PONDHOP125 to save $125 on flights. so I got it for $325.00 incl choice of seat and 1 check-in) overnight arriving Thurs May 19th.
I am allowing myself to hang-out a day in Paris (was not in the original planning but this way I don't have to stress myself getting the COVID Passport for France in time to fit into my timeable......and as my wife quipped "WHAT? you have a 'problem' with an extra day IN PARIS?!?!?!?"), take care of all the necessities, get a hotel for the night and then jump on the SJPdP Train from Gare Montparnasse the next morning (technically the hotel and train tix still need to be taken care of nut I am not sweating over it)
2. SJPdP - one night for May 20 is booked at Beilari..... based on the above I may now arrive much earlier in the day than originally planned and hopefully enjoy extra time in town proper (besides taking care of all the Pilgrim stuff in the office)
3. Sat May 21st - Let the Camino Begin.... short hop to Orisson; one night booked
4. Sun May 22nd - on to Roncesvalles one night booked
After that I intend to take it on the day-by-day basis as I originally planned.... and May Good Lord Almighty and the Spirit of St. Jacques Guide and Protect me through The Journey
Hope to see some of the Forum Members along The Way!
Buen Camino

Buen Camino.... 8 days behind me.... you might catch up (I plan to spend some extra time in both Burgos & Leon and of course there is always the situation of how fast one moves)
Wow!! I'd never heard of coupon codes for airlines! Finally found the page where I could enter it (it's a bit hidden), and sadly it didn't recognize this code. Thank you so much for enlightening me however. I'll look for coupon codes in the future. By the way how did you find this one?Use coupon code PONDHOP125 to save $125 on flights
