When to walk the Norte

Camino del Norte (2023)
Hello. My husband and I are hoping to do the San Salvador followed by the last half/two thirds of the Norte next year (we'll have one calendar month to do it in). I walked the Primitivo last year in August - 'enjoyed the heat, 'hated the bed racing. From those of you that have done the Norte - any suggestions? I see May is a bit cooler & more rainfall, but I'm assuming less busy/less bed racing. It would be great to be able to have some swims so June/July also look attractive on that front. Thanks in advance for your sage advice!

Very light, comfortable and compressible poncho. Specially designed for protection against water for any activity.

Our Atmospheric H30 poncho offers lightness and waterproofness. Easily compressible and made with our Waterproof fabric, its heat-sealed interior seams guarantee its waterproofness. Includes carrying bag.

€60,-
Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-
I walked it in mid-May-June which worked well. No bed race and overall good weather. July and August are the "in-season" at the coast so busier and more expensive.

I’m on the Norte now look for my post live from the Norte will try to update as much as I can

I did it in late September-Early November last year. It is quieter then in the summer of course. Trecile mentioned that west of Oviedo, after the Primitivo split it is quieter. I noticed that it started to get quieter after Santander. Once the Camino turned southwest away from the coast, a lot of days you can hear a pin drop when you are walking!

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.
I can recommend mid to late Sept. Still beautiful weather for walking and swimming and students and tourists have returned to their usual activities . Hardly ever had rain
