I had such a laugh at this YouTube video. It was produced by a serious and experienced ultralight backpacker, with the aim of using self-deprecating humor to poke fun at the Alpha Male version of the Ultralight backpacking community.

Well kinkyFrom a professional point of view that's extremely poorly done.
Also as a non-native speaker I caught maybe one third they were talking about.
Could do that but I'm not even light-backpacker much less hyperlight. I always carry a can or two of beer (0,5-1kilo!!!)Well kinky
Now is your chance!!
Why not make your own version.......with your good self in the starring role!!
Lights...Camers....Action

I'll explain why I KNOW it's poorly done in PM. No point in stealing the thread to discuss tricks of the work of film director that are well known since the film was discovered...
I disagree that it is poorly done, however, given the purpose and nature of the video. It is done for a specific target audience, and posted to the amateur-centric YouTube site. It would definitely not be worthy of an Emmy award, though.

NOOO, why did you do that??????????????I've removed the video. I apologize for not thinking about the language issues..
I don’t really want to leap into the fray except to say I thought it was very funny, not everyone is going to “get” everything thing that is posted and that I hope this doesn’t prevent you from further postings that might also not be fully understood by everyone but appreciated by others.Video removed to prevent further argument. I apologize for being insensitive to the fact that the video may be difficult to understand.
For those wishing to view the video outside of the Forum, you can go to YouTube and look up JupiterHikes and then the video of his called "When two ultralight backpackers meet".
That wasn't hard to do. Thanks. For those wishing to view the video outside of the Forum, you can go to YouTube and look up JupiterHikes and then the video of his called "When two ultralight backpackers meet".

I didn't view the video, but I must really be out of the loop and lingo.
We have gone from light to ultralight gear....with the newest being "hyperlight". Maybe next year "crazylight" gear will be unveiled.
My favorite part? Backpacker 1 drinks non-potable water and is later asked by Backpacker 2many of us refer to their packing lists as being Stupidlight [emphasis added by Rick]
Wow, Giardia sounds worse than I ever thought. The only positive that I can see is weight loss. Maybe it can be chemically made and sold in pharmacies in capsule form, sitting alongside the other less successful over the counter diet pills. My favorite part? Backpacker 1 drinks non-potable water and is later asked by Backpacker 2
"Water filter?"
"No. Giardia?" [link]Backpacker 2 brags "Three times."
You're such a good guy, Dave, trying to be sensitive to everyone.☺I've removed the video. I apologize for not thinking about the language issues..
Found on You Tube. VERRRRY funny. But can’t understand what on earth was so controversial that it had to be removed from this site???Video removed to prevent further argument. I apologize for being insensitive to the fact that the video may be difficult to understand.

I agree. Any ensuing argument must have been the fault of the people arguing, not the "fault" of the video or the posting of it.can’t understand what on earth was so controversial that it had to be removed from this site???
The OP removed the video not the moderators.....Found on You Tube. VERRRRY funny. But can’t understand what on earth was so controversial that it had to be removed from this site???
The Giardia comment was one of the few comments I didn't get straight away but it didn't diminish my enjoyment of this hilarious video and the self-deprecating humour of the hiker who made it. I read through the appreciating comments on YouTube and gained further enlightenmentMy favorite part? Backpacker 1 drinks non-potable water and is later asked by Backpacker 2

Cute!..."When two ultralight backpackers meet"...
Spot on !The key to being hyperlight is getting the OTHER guy to carry your beer.
I’d always thought it was Giardiasis, but perhaps the name of the parasite is how it’s referred to in the US.
I have one of those Katadyns, too.Yup ... thanks Dave!
I realised that
It might be a UK thing ... to refer to the ‘condition’, rather than the thing which causes it?
(I still have my Katadyn from the 80s ... the ‘pocket’ one, with the ceramic filter... water purification has moved on a bit, hasn’t it, thank heavens!)
Loved it.I've removed the video. I apologize for not thinking about the language issues..
Hey Davebugg I was looking at your youtube channel after viewing your funny video hoping to see some video of your Camino and saw nothing. Also, could you explain your logo "when I have your wounded" I thought you might be a medic. I am confused...please set the record straight.
Well I guess I was very confused because the YouTube that was referred in this forum was for Juniperhiker and I thought that was you. Thank-you for your service. My husband was with the 5th Special Forces in 1968. He very much appreciated those that evacuated the wounded - sorry I think that there was a lot missing in this thread and I caught it with the sorry..." I took down the video". Again Thank you for your service❤
George Kennedy, Clint Eastwood - "Eiger Sanction" One of the best climbing sequences, not a documentary, from Hollywood ever! The key to being hyperlight is getting the OTHER guy to carry your beer.
I just watched it and thought it was very clever. I’m Australian but still understood most of it. I watch both Dixie and Darwin . No worries.Video removed to prevent further argument. I apologize for being insensitive to the fact that the video may be difficult to understand.

I've not heard of that...I must be really young!I have one of those Katadyns, too.
Well, I did get mine (Katadyn ceramic filter) about 30 years ago. It was the best filter at the time for those travelling where they weren't sure about the water. I used mine when drinking the local water in sub-Saharan Africa.I've not heard of that...I must be really young!
Hi Dave, I just read your reply to Apple explaining your Viet Nam experience. I enjoyed getting a little more insight into "you". Now can you tell me what "bugg" is all about...maybe the mosquitos in the jungles of Nam? ☺
