I fly into Paris in a couple weeks to begin my first Camino. Need to stay in Paris for a night before heading to SJPdP. Any suggestion on inexpensive accomadations?

Hi! I just got into Bayonne for the night from Paris, and I'm starting the walk tomorrow! I stayed two nights in Paris to get a little sightseeing in. I stayed at the Oops hostel and it was a great place (weird name, I know). It's clean, has friendly staff, in a great location (walking distance from Gare Montparnasse), and it's about 33 euros a night. I'd definitely recommend it!

Depends on what you are looking for. In Paris, there isn't any good private accommodation that costs less than 100 euro /night. Mark my words, I've been there more than ten times and tried many different places in many districts... Any hotel below that will be dirty, excessively small, mostly without shower; and don't expect staff to speak a word in English.

BUT, if you plan to switch to pilgrim mode there already , than Oops hostel, as well as some other hostels you will find in any district on Booking.com will work for you (and will be the same quality as many hotels). Just choose the right district based on the location of the train station, there's such an option on Booking to set it as a criteria.
You will find a place to sleep within walking distance to the station all the time.

Buen Camino!

Fall of 2013 on my way to SW France and my first Camino, I stayed in Paris for 3 nights at an AirBnB place (this is not an advertisement -- just MY personal experience). Had my own, small, clean, comfortable bedroom, shared bath, and a good French breakfast was waiting for me in the kitchen in the morning - less than $50 / night (central location). A month ago I stayed on a boat on the Seine (also airbnb) (not so central, but great for MY purposes) - own bedroom, shared bath, a bit dusty and cluttered, but a wonderful experience! also less than $50 / night.
Buen Camino!

Hello,

A bit pessimistic. I am becoming a regular customer of "Ibis Style" hotels in Paris. Not top class or really roomy, but equipped with shower and toilet, and generally speaking more than acceptable and far beyond the above description. Kind English-speaking staff in Paris Bercy one. No interest involved.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.
