I have found that the major effort is to NOT follow these pointers. In the early months after returning from a camino, your eyes and brain are very finely attuned to spotting any yellow arrow.

This can make walking challenging, and driving scary, especially if you are an OCD person, like me. I see an arrow and my brain says "follow it..."

Fortunately, where I live, they seem to use yellow plastic tape to mark things instead of directional arrows. So, my brain registers them differently. But, put a tip on it, pointing one way, and I end up in a ditch...
