Gday all. Just wondering if anyone can give me an opinion on crossing the coastal route at Mindelo to Vilarinho. It seems to me on the guide book map to be a shorter distance to cross. Which would mean far less roadside walking than what I have seen and heard about if one crosses from Vida do Conde to Rates.
Cheers

Here I am again, the weather is just fine 😊

From Mindelo to Vairão or Vilarinho is not a waymarked trail but fairly straight on.
But you still are in the industrial infra structure north of Porto.

If you want to change from the coastal to the central route you better could go on to Vila do Conde and follow the aquaduct route in stead of the (partly) river walk to São Pedro de Rates.
or you change at Caminha and follow the waymarked ecopista path along the Minho river to Valença do Minho.
There was a topic about the aquaduct stage here on the forum the other day .

Other alternative is to take the metro from Porto to Fórum Maia or Vilar do Pinheiro and start from there walking to Vairão and Vilarinho to São Pedro and on.
if you walk on the Central, don’t miss albergue Casa da Fernanda in Vitorino de Piães between Barcelos and Ponte de Lima. The only albergue on the caminho Português that provides a similar sphere as albergues on the CF with common dinners and breakfasts .
Bom caminho

Yes seems after some checking and a bit of post searching. Seems its better to go to Vila do Conde. Although Im still in two minds about the river walk. As some say its not that hard to follow. And does have less traffic. Guess I`ll just way up more facts as it gets closer.
However. in the mean time. Do you know by chance if the weather can be different between the Aquaduct way and the river way🤣🤣🤣........... sorry. Couldnt help myself. Just a cheeky aussie.
Cheers
PS I do see your a very helpful guy👍👍

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

It’s not the only one, but it is the most notorious one. At least two others, Casa do Sardao (Carreço, coastal) and Casa Alternativo (O Porriño, central) come to mind but I’m certain there are others as well.

Yes when you walk underneath the aquaduct for the time being and you’ll stay dry. 1655132814862.png

Hope they sing and dance the Portugues folklore as well in Casa do Sardão and Galician folklore in O Porriño. I have to figure that out one day .I haven’t been there yet

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.

Looked at Casa do Sardão. That looks great. Nice Place , should stay there too, knowing about that place by now
Also the Casa Alternativo looks nice never knew it was there .
O Porriño is not my favorite place by the way.
