We are 8 siblings walking the Camino Portuguese from Porto to SDC, after our walk we have to travel back to Lisbon. I've searched the forum and determined that the best for our group is bus to Porto and train to Lisbon in Porto. On Oct 5 2022 (Wednesday), there are two buses leaving in the morning for Porto. My question is where will the train station in Porto be? With a large group what is the best transportation to get to the train station?

There are 2 train stations in Porto. Which one does your train depart from?

Trains to Lisbon go from Porto Campanha station not Sao Bento.

The bus station is about 500 meters from the train station. Best to walk.

Thank you for the quick reply, that is what we will do.

We don't have tickets yet for the train. My research shows train departing every hour . My dilemma is finding the right station to depart for Lisbon and we intend to get the tickets at the station.

If it's the Alsa bus from SdC to Porto, it will leave you at Casa da Musica metro station. From there it's just a few metro stops to Campanha..

Thank you, I'm familiar with Casa da Musica

As noted above, Porto Campanha station is the one from which trains depart for Lisbon. The bus station and this train station are right beside each other. Tickets readily available.

When I look on it shows them 4.7 km apart. What am I doing wrong?

Ideal pocket guides for during & after your Camino. Each weighs only 1.4 oz (40g)!
Perhaps a different bus terminal? I know we came on the train from Vigo to Porto into Campagna rail station, and there definitely were a lot of long-distance buses there...

Believing what someone said perhaps?

Alsa bus arrives into Porto Campo 24 Agosto station which is very close to Campanha train station. I checked by going through the alsa booking process.

The one thing we all seem to agree on is where the train departs from and with 14/day it doesn’t really matter whether it’s a short walk or a short metro ride to get there.

I have taken 11:30 bus to Porto with Alsa several times and always to Casa da Musica, but looking on their site I see some of them stop at other locations in Porto, so check your bus schedule to see!

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Thank you all, we bought our bus tickets departing SDC and arriving Oporto Campanha. The vital detail that I needed was the train station for Lisbon which is from Porto Campanha station. We either walk or take the metro once we are in Porto.

I know nothing about the transport but I just think you and your 7 siblings doing the camino is fantastic & something of a record I am sure. I do hope you all have an amazing experience travelling along these beautiful paths together 💙🌻

Thank you for the kind words, it has been two years in the planning. I’m the eldest at 70 and the youngest is 58 yo who is still working RN. Two are coming from Manila, two from LA 2 from Ohio, 1 from Ontario. The planning was the major work. The best get together we will have.

With so many siblings going together have you all set "ground rules?"
For example, are you all going to walk together all the time?
What happens if one person gets sick or injured?
How will you agree on where to eat, etc.?

Hi, good timing we just finished our final group call to establish ground rules. Major point no one get left behind, if injury: we have one doctor and a nurse and if needed will transport to the next hostel/albergue, I have reservation everyday, every cafe bar will be utilized, cafe con leche a must . Main meal is lunch time for the Menu del dia. If all else fail, in our culture the eldest has the final say :)
