Hi Paul. Welcome to the forum. When we get closer to that date (maybe 6 months before) we will put up a Calendar thread where anyone starting in May will be able to put their names and dates on a list. It is fun to see who else you might meet on the way.

Threads about the Camino Frances include the portion you plan to walk. In addition, some threads are tagged with "sarria to santiago" if they are focused on that section. Walking that section in May means you will have lots of company, but you will avoid the big crowds of July and August, the Easter group at the start of April, and the many people who start at SJPP in May. Happy planning!

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

Hi C, regarding the walk potentially being quite busy in May would you recommend booking accommodation in advance ?

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

I really don't know - and no one does, since the last few years have been quite unpredictable. I would expect, however, that it would be fine to book only a short time in advance. Do you plan to use the dorm-style albergues, or private rooms?

Certainly I would say that you could wait until at least a few weeks before your Camino, when the Easter crowd has passed through that section, to get a better idea of the situation. Most likely you would be fine to book a day or two in advance, or not at all if you prefer. It isn't something you need to worry about at this point. (If you were, for example, wanting a bed at Orisson in May, where there are very few options, I would say you should book as soon as they will take reservations, but there are a lot of beds from Sarria to Santiago.)

It's really busy for pilgrims starting in St Jean Pied de Port. Other than Easter week I don't think that Sarria to Santiago gets really busy before June. But I'm not positive about that. I'd book the first couple of nights maybe.

As this is only a short trip I would like to stay in the Albergues as i feel they would be more fun than staying in hotels. Well except from the snoring I believe :) . I'll take your advice and wait till nearer the time . So glad I found this site! Thanks C

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.

Thanks for that. Wish I had the time to start from St Jean de Port but maybe thats for another time as I'm sure I'll get the Bug. Which Camino is your favourite ?

Which Camino is your favourite ?
Hard question!
My first Camino on the Francés was probably the most special, but I'm really looking forward to doing the Norte again, but this time finishing on the Primitivo.
But the Camino is like this quote from Heraclitus
“No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it’s not the same river and he’s not the same man.”
