Do you have an email address for the Hotel Continental, St Jean PdP? Google says it's temporarily closed, but if I could email, maybe I'd get a reply. I can only find a telephone number, but I don't speak French. Have you stayed there recently? Old-ish reviews say it needs some tlc. Has it had any?

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.

Check out what Trip Advisor says re a very recent visit at the Continental. If money is not a problem try the Hotel Les Pyrénées. The Remparts is more affordable.

However during past years I always stayed at 55 rue de La Citadelle and loved it; opening the red door of that simple municipal albergue began each adventure.

Happy planning and Carpe diem.

Transport luggage-passengers.
From airports to SJPP
Luggage from SJPP to Roncevalles
I stayed there many, many years ago. It was quaint and they feed me dinner on the terrace overlooking the river until I was ready to burst; they even prepared me a basket for breakfast and lunch the next day. The room I stayed in looked like the room filmed in The Way.

That's the reason ("The Way") I'd like to stay there, if possible. My first camino, 2003, I turned up unannounced at 55 rue de La Citadelle, but they were full. They found me a bunk at Gite Compostella, which was fine.

No reviews since September 2016!

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
I've learned that it is "closed and dilapidated" and "frequently squatted". "Temporarily closed" seems a bit optimistic! I'll have to content myself with a photo of the front door.

The Gite Compostella! Stayed there in 2012 and loved it. I do hope that it's still open!

That is amazing, they were an essential part of the small town square.

If you want comfort for the first night, hotel Central is in a good location, very nice hotel. Gîte accommodation mostly on rue de la Citadelle offers a more authentic experience. Depends on what way you prefer to start. Buen camino.

Yes, it's open. My group is staying there again this year.
However, the lovely old fellow that ran it when you stayed sold it.
I miss those parties they threw for us!
There is a new, younger couple. They are nice and they've made a few updates.
