Class of 2015

Hello Class of 2015!

I'll be walking from SJPDP to Finisterre & Muxia in May & June 2015 ~ I have seven weeks to complete my journey. I'll be flying in from Canada to Paris somewhere around May 8-10th. Paris to SJPDP - fly/train or train/train ?? -Haven't made that decision yet. I'll get back to Paris from SdC via Hendaye ~ this looks to be an inviting layover spot! The only other real decision I've made so far is to break up my first few days by stopping in Orisson.

I'm looking forward to meeting you all ! If anyone is looking for a train/plane buddy.. let me know.. safety in numbers !

Buen Camino
Cari

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.

Good idea. I did that and enjoyed my stay there. Be sure to make a reservation.

I'm Hope. I'm planning to walk the Camino from St Jean to Santiago in Sept/Oct 2015. I've read a book on what to take, and probably more importantly, what not to take and have just started reading John Brierley's guide. I have only ever done one trek before and that was a 3 day mountain trek in New Zealand (I'm a West Aussie) so this is quite an adventure for me.
I'm really very excited about it. I am not sure whether I'll be walking alone or with a friend yet but either way I will be walking!!

Looking forward to meeting and chatting with fellow pilgrims here

Hi,
I just retired and am planning on walking from SJPdp to Santiago sometime from April 2015 and September 2015. I've started walking and trying to get into shape to prepare for the journey.

I'm interested in seeing the wine grapes growing in northern Spain, so I'm debating the timing of my walk. I've seen photos people have taken in the spring with all of the beautiful flowers and that looks really lovely. But I am also interested in seeing the fall harvest in the fields and farms. Is it possible to see the wine grapes on the vines?

I've been working on accumulating the clothing, shoes and backpack needed and really appreciate people who post their packing lists as this has prevented me from taking too much stuff and to focus in on what is really needed. I'm interested in equipment modifications to meet the needs of the Camino so I have a couple of equipment projects that I'm working on that I'll tell you about once I get into them a little further.

Is it possible to see the wine grapes on the vines?
Yes. The exact harvest day is difficult to predict, but you can watch the grapes from about June until the harvest. The grapes next to the Camino are usually pilfered by pilgrims. After the harvest, the changing color of the grape leaves is very scenic. As a matter of fact, you can pretty much determine the timing of the filming of "The Way" from the grape leaves.

Hi! I'd like to join the Class of 2015!

My brother and I will be walking in May/June of 2015, though we haven't decided the starting point yet. Porto seems too close, yet I'm not sure Lisbon will fit with my work schedule.

Anyway, I'm glad to be aboard.

Hi!
I am planning to walk from Porto in May 2015.

I am from Worcester in South Africa.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Hi Hope! Welcome! I'm Josie from Adelaide. My friends and I are also planning on September/October 2015. Maybe we'll bump into each other somewhere along the way. Happy planning...like someone said to me in this forum, "your Camino has begun"....and Buen Camino! ( wow! that's the first time I've said that! sounds sooo good! ) :)))

Hope to see some of you going in September to October
I'll be in France in September, then hopefully heading into Spain in mid-October, depending on how caught up I get in the Perigord. :)

Still, I miss Pamplona, and plan to spend a couple of "zero days" revisiting the casco antiguo. I don't think I've ever been so utterly charmed by a city.

Hi Cari T I'm planing on May/June 2015 not sure on the date, maybe the 10th. I don't want to start too early in spring but also don't want to get too warm in June. Decisions, decisions! I'm coming from Oregon USA to SJPDP to Finnistere. Hope to run into you;)

The 9th edition the Lightfoot Guide will let you complete the journey your way.

Hi ,I am Mark age 35 from the uk.I found the camino last weekend by pure accident and i am stuck in a rut round about now so i am walking april 2015,i was in two minds whether to research as much as possible, but something is telling me to just research the necessity and go to do it with no outside expectation.

Hi, I'm from Oregon and would love to follow the 4min pilgrim. My kickoff date is May/June 2015. I hope your able to put it on the internet so it can be enjoyed by others

I've looked at four weeks to complete all the way to finisterre but I have given another two weeks in case of any unforeseen incidents, sprains etc..just planning my travel arrangements but haven't decided whether to head back to Spain after or back to the UK..buen camino..

how much is the accomadition you booked if you dont mind me asking ,also how and where did you book it,i am thinking of having a couple of days in SJPDP before i start.what part of the uk are you in?

I paid €145 for the two nights for a studio room that sleeps four or five people in the Résidence Pierre & Vacances Le Parc D’Arradoy. It's only 700 mtrs from the centre of SJPDP. A bit of comfort before the long trek for me will be welcomed. It'll also allow me time to look around the town, get the pilgrims passport and get myself mentally prepared etc. I'm living in Gloucestershire at the mo but head back out to Spain toward the end of September where I'll be trekking the Cabrera mountains until crimbo. I spend a lot of time in Spain where my girlfriend and I have a caravan and although she lives here in the UK I spend more time out there where I can walk for miles and hours in the sunshine..what about you?

Sorry mark.. I booked it on booking.com.. If you are there the same time as me I'm quite hoping to share if people are will to share the cost..

Hi Tink,
Love your area of the globe! I too am inundated with decisions to make. Right now looking at flights into Paris from Vancouver via Montreal for the weekend of May 8/9/10 2015. May will still be kind of coolish I'm sure, but I've decided to base layer and have opted to leave the sleeping bag at home. But we're both from the Pacific Northwest so to speak, so really, this is ideal for us!
Keep in touch :)

I'm happy to be able to add my name on here again. I, along with a sister and brother (first timers), will be leaving SJPD around May 1st, 2015. Cant believe it's only nine short months away!

My sister and I will be walking part of Camino Portugues in April 2015 (around Easter). Still at the planning stages nothing concrete yet. First timers too from Cork, Ireland

My wife and I walked this year el Camino Frances from Roncesvalles. We are now officially addicted.
We are thinking that on 2015 we will try el Camino Portugues starting in Lisbon in early March.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.

Hi Everyone,

We've completed most of our plans for our March 2015 Camino Frances. Flights are booked, hotels in Leon and Santiago have been booked!
Just so everyone knows, a lot of hotels were unavailable during our dates (March 3 & 4 in Leon and March 21 & 22 in Santiago. If anyone else will be looking for hotels in those cities at that time, I wouldn't wait. Make your reservations now.

I agree Ron.. I'm starting my camino on the 1st May 2015. I have booked a hotel in St. Jean for the 29th-30th April and it was touch and go getting the booking.. So glad I booked early...

[...] Just so everyone knows, a lot of hotels were unavailable during our dates (March 3 & 4 in Leon and March 21 & 22 in Santiago. If anyone else will be looking for hotels in those cities at that time, I wouldn't wait. Make your reservations now.
That seems to be bad luck for those dates so far ahead. What could be the reason? Are there particular functions going on those dates and in those places? Did you use google.com, bookings.com, hotels.com, expedia.com or any other of the myriad internet sites?
It has happened to me that, when all such internet booking sites were showing "last 2 rooms left", or "fully booked", (or particularly "no rates available":p), in fact I have always had a room once I physically arrived in the places I wanted to stay at.
So perhaps, if you have a direct e-mail address and a person, instead of an internet browser, to talk to at the hospitality management level, it might be useful to ask if there is something particular going on in town during the mentioned period. Very often you may receive a satisfactory alternative suggestion. ;)
One should also consider that between now and 9 months ahead, many factors can change in available accommodation facilities (cancellations, changes of arrival/departure dates, new units, etc.).
What about a tentative "stand-by" position in the mean time?o_O
If at first you don't succeed, try again a bit later.:)

Having had to cancel all our 2014 Camino arrangements today for health reasons we are looking ahead, in faith, to walk in 2015.
We are looking to 2015 and debating where we should walk. Stay with this year's plan for Camino del Mar and Camino Inglés, or walk parts of the Camino del Mar with San Andrés de Teixido as our aim, then take a bus and walk the Primitivo from Fonsagrada. This might finish up as a last minute decision, but meanwhile we can make plans and keep in training.
We think that we will be revising our original plans for the Camino del Mar. We now expect to start in Ribadeo then walk some, train/bus some as far as San Andres, bus to Ferrol and then walk the Inglés from Ferrol. No dates set, but before it gets too hot. :) Then return to Ferrol and take the train all the way back to Oviedo on our way home.

My sis and I will be doing Sarria to SdC in June 2015. We would love to do SJPdP to SdC but with families, husbands and small kids, it's a challenge just being gone for a few days! We are from Southern California (Carlsbad), from an Argentine background. We are so excited to be able to do this and we both have our big Camino (SJPdP to Santiago) on our bucket lists!!!

Hola Comrades,

I plan to return to the Camino in May 2015 and walk from Belorado to Astorga thus completing the Camino Frances that I started in September 2011.

My love affair with the Camino started in 2011 when I walked from Astorga to Santiago and then from Cee to Finisterra and Muxia. Caught the bug so bad that I knew I had to return so May 2013 saw me in St.Jean from where I walked to Belorado.May 2015 will see me complete the Frances by walking from Belorado to Astorga. Then I can start all over again !!

On both previous occasions I met some wonderful peregrinos and have memories to cherish and last a lifetime .Both previous journeys were very different experiences but both equally treasured !. Many thanks to all involved in this wonderful Forum (moderators and contributors )it is truly a magnificent resource for all travellers and a special daily connection for all peregrinos suffering from the Camino separation blues !!

So roll on May 2015 and I look forward to sharing some part of the road with some of the Class of 2015.

Buen Camino Peregrinos ;)

Looks like I might be walking the Camino twice in 2015. Still planning to go from Sahagun to Santiago with my nephew in June, but now I have some friends who want to do a "slack-packing" trip. Not sure when, but you might not recognize me. I'll be wearing dark sun glasses and a fake mustache and beard so none of the "non slack-packers" will know it's "DurhamParish" carrying that little day pack.

That's worrying - I better get my act in gear.
ya me three... I hope to be walking by May 10th 2015... and here I thought I had oodles of time... thanks for the heads up. Orisson won't look at my reservation until after Xmas they said

Hi Corviglia, I hope all goes well with your planning and training, it is exciting planning such a pilgrimage and I am looking forward to my first steps on the Camino. I hope to get to Finesterre within five weeks but I have given myself six to finish. I don't intend to rush it, more to treasure it. We may meet out there, who knows, Good luck with your prep..Buen Camino

Hi Tink..I'll see you in SJPDP.. I'm sure your legs will be fine and get you all the way, I am hoping the same with mine..lol..I have bought two pairs of identical shoes, one pair I have worn in and the other I am wearing in at the moment, one pair I will do my training in and the other I will use for the camino. I am training well at the moment and all is well, I try to get an 8 or 10 hour walk in a week, and at the end of this month I will do the 3 peaks challenge here in the UK, that is 3 mountains in 24 hours.. Should be fun!!!! I head back to southern Spain in September where I will be able to get plenty of mountain training in. After Christmas I hope to start putting in either two or three long walks a week with a view to doing a fortnight of 8 hour walks before the end of march and then I will rest all of April to recover..enjoy your prep and I'll see you there.. Buen training..

My husband and I are planning to walk the Camino Frances SJPDP to SdC either spring or fall of 2015. This will be a first for us. We travel as often as we can, but never backpacking and always with hotel reservations firmly in hand. I love this challenge of heading off on foot, carrying what we need, and having no destination set in stone for the day's end. My preparation began today with a 5-mile walk and I plan to double that in a few weeks.

I first heard of the Camino in 2001, when I read James Michener's "Iberia" in preparation for a driving drip through Spain. But we gave up all idea of walking it ourselves when we visited Santiago and saw all those weary pilgrims trudging into the cathedral. "No way!" I thought.

Hahaha .... famous last words! Can't wait to get started.

Thanks to Ivar and everyone on this site. I just joined yesterday and already I've learned so much.

Buon Camino!
Jean
See if you can get hold of the film, "The Way" staring Martin Sheen.. Give a good insite to the camino and inspired me to do it.. My pilgrimage will start on the 1st May 2015 from SJPDP. And hope to reach Finisterre within four to five weeks although I have allowed six weeks in case of any sprains etc..good luck with your planning..

Hello fellow Class of 2015. I've been reading these posts for a few months and have now have gathered courage to post myself!

I will be walking the CF from SJPdP beginning in mid-September 2015. I will be solo until SdC when my husband joins me for the Camino Finisterre. I am 56 years old and live in Dayton, Ohio. (Haven't seen any other Ohioans on the thread.)

I've had my sights set on the Camino for over a year. I choose this time as my youngest child will leave home for a year of mission work in summer of 2015, my middle one will still be in college, and my oldest will get married on September 12th. (She wanted the 26th for her wedding date but I explained that didn't want to be on the Camino in mid-late November and she lovingly adjusted her date for me.) I hope to pray the 30 day Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of of Loyola in silence (for the most part) during my walking time but enjoying the company of my fellow pilgrims when not walking. I've lived in Madrid, Spain for two years and my husband's mother is from Valencia. I have a great love of Spain, the food, and the WINE!

I am thankful for all the great guidance provided by all the experiences pilgrims on this forum! Now if I could just make up my mind on liner vs sleeping bag I'd feel much better! :)

Hi Jiffie.. I pondered on the sleeping bag issue for ages and decided that because I am starting on the first of May and the weather could be somewhat unpredictable, it would be prudent of me to take a sleeping bag and liner, with everything I need to take my pack weight is just under 10 kg which for me is acceptable, if I don't use the bag over the Pyrenees then I can always send it back home, for me it is also added protection against bed bugs...The going saying is that your pack should be no more than 10% of your body weight...I live in Andalucia and agree with the great love of Spain.. There I have the Cabrerra mountains to train on.. We are coming up to September so it might be an idea to keep an eye on the weather in the northern regions to give you an idea as to what it might be like, although weather patterns are known to change from year to year.. Buen planning..

Primus, Great film! I've not only watched it -- twice -- but went out and bought it :) It's kind of become my "go-to" response when friends look at me like I have two heads. "Look, just watch this film. It will explain everything...."

Our plans are shaping up for 2015. We will leave Philadelphia on or after Oct. 1. Because of time constraints (ie, jobs), we are going to have to do the camino in segments, hopefully just 2, probably 3. I'm figuring get to SJPdP and once the walk begins, 14 nights on the camino, ending wherever that takes us. Hopefully, Burgos, but maybe not as far, maybe further. The rest will happen in 2016, God willing. Already training, learning Spanish and reading this forum about 20-22 hours per day :) :)

Hi Bala..same here.. Seen it twice and bought the film...I can't wait to get on the camino..I don't know what I am looking for out there but if it is out there then it will find me..lol.. I have a basic Spanish knowledge but there is always the book by John Brierley.. A pilgrims guide to the Camino de Santiago..it is a magnitude of info, all the stage maps, where all the drinking fonts are, basic Spanish, phone numbers for all the hostels.. All you need really and it only weighs 300 gramms and is 21x12 cm in size..it only goes as far as Santiago but another book by the same author just called.. Camino de Santiago. Has all the stage maps up to Santiago and from Santiago to Finesterre..Good luck with everything..

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
Great idea to watch the weather. Thanks for the post.

Hi! I'm from near Boulder, Colorado USA. I plan to start my Camino in 2015. I plan to start the CF in SJPDP and go all the way to at least SdC. My husband doesn't have the time for such a long Camino so he will meet up with me for about the last two weeks. We're still deciding when to start the Camino. We're trying to avoid the hot days of July and August, but the warmer weather of the other months keeps our packs lighter. All the cold weather in May this year has made us rethink starting even in mid May, but perhaps this strange weather won't repeat itself in 2015. I really want to walk the Napoleon route over the Pyrenees, but this is already a lesson learned. Limited planning seems to be the best approach to the Camino.

I read something about the Camino almost a year ago and felt the calling. I felt if would be really neat to do, but not something I would likely ever do in this busy world. However, the calling has persisted and here I am! :D

Thanks to Ivar and everyone who contributes to this forum. Along with the Brierley bookI have learned so much about the Camino. Now to work on the training. I'm up to about 6.5km but did do a 9.5km walk a few weeks ago.

Buen Camino!

Gday all. From Australia here. I'm planning my first Camino for the start of May and into June 2015. I'll be taking my time as I have 7 weeks in which to complete it. But I do realise it wont take that long. However I am going to do SJPDP to Roncesvalles on the first day. After that Ill let my body tell me when to stop. Not that I listen to it much. I'll be traveling alone, but Im looking forward to it and to meeting many different types of people on the path.
To all those going before me,
Buen Camino.

It can take that long if you let it! You will find a comfortable pace that balances your need to achieve and your physical limits. I am sure it will be less than seven weeks, but make decisions a day at a time when you get to the Camino. Try to think several days ahead. By that I mean that there can be a payback several days down the road. You will find that you can do a lot in the first few days, but maybe you shouldn't because it can come back to haunt you a week later with tendinitis, shin splints, repetitive stress injuries, etc. You have 42 days, so there won't be any need to push past your physical limits early. After two to three weeks, you may have capabilities that are much improved. Even then, injuries tend to occur toward the end of the day when muscles are tired, balance is shaky, and walking mechanics change a bit from aches and pains. Countless pilgrims have overdone it at that stage, and end up with an abrupt end to their pilgrimage. Stay unambitious and you will be fine!

Buen camino.:)

Thanks Falcon269 for those words. I do intend to be slightly unambitious. Ive had shin splints before. They do not leave you in a happy place.

so your not nervous to start in SJPP?
have you done that part before ?
Hi... Yes I am very nervous lol... But so excited at the same time! This is my first camino... I am looking forward to the challenge and the experience of walking the full camino. I have never experienced staying in a hostel before, I am a newbie all the way! Lol

I will be walking from St Jean Port de Pied to Santiago in May/June/July, 2015. Have been contemplating this journey for several years. Have started collecting information, advice and equipment through the amazing generocity of the experienced pilgrims found here. I will be 65 this fall and will celebrate for the entire year following :D I have begun walking/hiking to prepare. I'm pretty sure it will be the highlight of my wonderful life!!

Buen Camino!
I will be doing the camino around the same time! I will probably see you along the way. I plan on leaving May 25th(ish) from SJPDP to Santiago. I have already begun gathering all needed supplies and going on extended hikes. I am overly excited to do this and wish I could leave today. :)

The 9th edition the Lightfoot Guide will let you complete the journey your way.

My partner and I are planning to walk the fall of 2015 (September/October). We haven't worked up all the details yet, but probably from SJPdP all the way to Finisterra. I know it's a year from now, but it's pretty exciting for me and I'd like to learn from other people's experiences. We started learning Spanish a few months ago, so I hope in a year we'll be able to have a decent conversation with people.
We're Israelis, and The Way is little known here. There's only one blog in Hebrew, which claims there are only 50 of us a year walking the Camino. So the English-speaking forums will be my source of information! :)
We're both vegans (which means we don't eat meat, dairy and eggs) so that might be a challenge, but it seems it's doable.

Anyone thinks it's a good idea to use guide books?

Hello! I am new to this and am not sure how to make the decision about whether to tackle this hike or not. I honestly know about the Camino because of the movie The Way. Rarely does a movie affect me so much; but I felt like I needed to walk this trail. I am not sure about many things. I guess first and foremost, how much of a handicap is it that I don't speak Spanish? Should that keep me from the trail? I have oodles of other questions, (packing, currency, traveling with someone, ...) but am enjoying reading the posts here. You are all very inspirational to me!
I guess any advice for a newbie would be appreciated greatly.
Tiz

See if you can get hold of the film, "The Way" staring Martin Sheen.. Give a good insite to the camino and inspired me to do it.. My pilgrimage will start on the 1st May 2015 from SJPDP. And hope to reach Finisterre within four to five weeks although I have allowed six weeks in case of any sprains etc..good luck with your planning..
I can't believe how that movie impacted me! After seeing it, I truly felt the call ... I am planning a June 2015 beginning at SJPDP. Good luck!

Lol that movie had the same effect on me... I started researching the camino almost immediately after watching movie... That was over a year ago...and I am still driving my family and friends crazy with all my "camino talk and research" oh and my count down! Lol ... June 2015!!

HAHA, Kimmzie!! Thanks for the reply. It's good to know that that movie affected others as it did me. :) How far are you in the planning process?? I think the thing I am most nervous about is that I speak ZERO Spanish! Do you think I should take a crash course? Be well!

Hey Tiz. I think a lot of people have had the same feeling after seeing the way. If you want the be more inspired, get hold of a copy of Martin Sheen and Emilio Ezterves' dual biography " Along the way". Not only does it talk about the movie, but how and why it was made. Also some great insight into a father and son relationship.
As from your avatar you look like a hiker. As. Am I, and I'm trying hard to get around pack sizes and very limited gear for 5_6 weeks walking.
I go early May, so still have a lot to do. Hope you find this site as helpful as I have.
Buen Camino.

Hi Hunsta -
Thanks for the reply. I'll definitely pick up that book. I am also thinking of buying John Brierley's book -- a decent idea?? Just starting to figure this out. Pack size ... I am wondering if a well stocked day pack would do? Or should I plan on the "big guy"? Do you speak Spanish? I am reading this site feverishly; so much great info!

Hello,

I am a proud member of the class of 2015, and will continue to walk it annually as long as my feet are willing to take me along.

Buen Camino.

I got a copy of Breiley's book. Its good. Also download a copy of Spanish for Dummies. And get a small phrase book. As for pack size, consensus is 50ltre maximum. Packing lite however for a 5 week +trip is whats doing my head in.

I took a very basic Spanish class ... And purchased a Spanish pocket phrase book..that I will bring with me... Very small conversational Spanish book. My thoughts about learning some Spanish where to be able to look at a menu and know what I was ordering or look at road signs/ directions and recognize some Spanish. Oh and I know how to order a glass of read wine in Spanish! Lol my planning for camino is going good... I am trying to narrow down a start date.. My BFF is planning on meeting me in Sarria and hike the last 100km with me into Santiago. So I am trying to figure out where I will take some "rest days" to explore and do some sight seeing. And how many days to hike to Sarria. I have also been getting in lots of hiking and walking. I have figured out different equipment/clothing I will need... This forum is very very helpful!! I check this page out a lot!

Awesome, Hunsta --- I plan on picking up that book today. I'll see if I can locate a good Spanish for Dummies as well! Thank you for the tips!

That sounds good, Kimmzie. I think if I know enough to feel somewhat comfortable navigating around, then I can always point to things on a menu! (But you are spot on - if you know what you are ordering, it's much better!) Wow - you are miles (no pun intended) ahead of me. I am literally just starting this process. I am excited, but need any tips, or info that people are willing to give. This forum is super helpful! Hahaha --- as long as you know how to order the read or red wine, then your trek should be A-OK! LOL

I've been using the online game/educational site DuoLingo - it's been helpful in getting basic Spanish words/phrases. I'm signed up for local classes, as well. :)
Thanks, WJ...I'll check that site out. I need all the help I can get! :)

Grabbed that app myself today. Not to bad. Although lesson one would seem a little advanced for some with no spanish at all. Lessons are easily learnt though.

I treked the Camino Francis this past May/June 2014 in real fast time. In September of 2015 I plan to do it again, only this time, take it much slower and smell a few sweet roses along the way that I missed the first time. Twas not a mistake on my part to rush thru the first time-twas by plan...Buen Camino a Todos.

How did you find the weather this year in May and June? I plan to start first week of May.

Today I have made the decision to make my first step on the Camino on March, 2015. After consulting the forum I have decided not to plan to much in advance. In Bayonne I will decide which path I will take. It might be the Camino Baztan or when the weather allows it via SJPJ. I will take my time and do it step by step.

I have some hiking experience, also in the mountains, and prefer to walk in the nature of the mountains. Therefore I think I will take Camino Salvadore at Leon and Camino Primitivo as a D tour from the Frances to enjoy as much as I can the high ground. Mountains are for someone living under sea level fascinating. :)

There are not many people starting in March, so I expect that it is very quiet on most of the Camino. I am looking forward to meet those that are on the Camino at that time.

update: It is final. I have a trainticket to Bayonne on March 7. Can not wait.....

Lots of September people! That's great. I guess we'll meet on the way.

I'm pretty worried about weight loss, because I'm pretty small as it is. For many people I guess it's a blessing. For me I'm worried it might make it more difficult during the walk. Any of you was slim to begin with and survived? ;)

My wife and I are starting the Camino Frances on March 5, 2015 from Leon. We'll be too far ahead for our paths to cross but I just wanted to say hi!

Hi, I am Joe, from southern California. I am new to this forum and planning to walk the El Camino, mostly alone, starting at SJPdP around mid-April of 2015.
Will probably fly into CDG and take the train to SJPdP. Anyone going that time of year who would like to team up for the early part of the trip?
My youngest son is planning on walking part of the Camino with me before he has to go back to work. In reading the posts it looks like I am way back on the power curve as far as planning is concerned. About the only thing I have going for me is a limited knowledge of Spanish and being in fairly good physical condition. Am I too late in booking rooms in the bigger cities?

I am going to try and leave SJPdP the first of May 2015. I have found a friend in Mobile that has just completed the journey this year so I hope to get the information needed to get the right equipment . I am going to try and complete the journey by the first of June. I have one of my children that wants to vacation in southern Spain after I finish so I will meet up with them. Hope you have a great adventure and maybe we will meet on the road.
