I emailed Orisson a while ago to make a reservation. They sent me the payment form, (after a long delay, which is apparently normal), but told me you must arrive on foot. As my son and I will be on bikes, I queried this nearly two weeks ago but have had no reply. Can you tell me if they do allow pilgrims on bikes? Probably too late to do anything about it now as we leave for France in just over a fortnight, and I haven't paid yet. Any thoughts please?

This may sound medieval but call Jean-Jacques on the telephone!

I was unaware that Orisson was not bike friendly. I think you may be dealing with a "lost in translation" issue and I would suggest following Scruffy's advice or confirming your reservation with a Paypal deposit as soon as possible. Jean Jacques and most of his staff do speak English if you call there. The country code is 033, then drop the zero before the phone number.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.

Their website states: "Priority to people arriving on foot".

My understanding is this is a common requirement along the camino because sometimes albergue resources are under strain due to demand and a cyclist has greater flexibility to find other accommodation than does a person on foot.

Duh!!
Sitting on the other side of world you don't always think of the obvious.
Thanks for that. I called, using my halting French, and they responded in near perfect English.
All fixed.
