I am a fellow Canadian (from the Ottawa area!) making my first trip solo and will be just days behind you if all goes as planned. A little nervous as a female going it alone yet know that for me this is how I must go and trusting (almost!) that I will have opportunity to walk with fellow hikers. So Encouraged to see similar departure dates.

Hey Bobbi! Guess what? We are from Ottawa too!!! We leave Ottawa for Paris on the 29th of August via Montreal and then onto SJPP on September 1rst. From what I've read on this and many other forums and blogs, you won't be alone for very long. Everyone talks about their ''Camino family'', so I'm sure you'll meet all kind of new cousins. If you want a small taste of meeting fellow Caminoists, the Gatineau chapter of Canadian Pilgrims has a hike through different trails in the Gatineaus every Saturday morning. I'm going to try it out this Saturday.

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

Thanks for this information. Do you happen to have a contact for the Gatineau chapter as I too would like to try out a couple of trails. Will maybe see you on the trail in September. Cheers

Here is the site for the Gatineau/Quebec Camino Pilgrim Association http://www.duquebecacompostelle.org/selection/calendrier-03.asp
Hopefully this link works, if not, look up Du Québec à Compostelle and then the calendar is in the ''activités'' in the ''marches'' segment. Scroll down until you reach Outaouais. There is training every Saturday morning at 8:30 in the Gatineaus.
I went this past Saturday and there was about 16 of us. It was great training with all our gear.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

I did 20kms with full pack yesterday and was actually able to get out of bed and walk upright this morning!!!!! Who would have thought??? I am excited but apprehensive at the same time. Hope to see you on the trail. Bobbi
