I don't know how many bars there are in Valcarlos to choose from but, according to one of our esteemed members, there are four in Zubiri.
Aaaaaaaaaahhhhhh, toooooo far to Zubiri :eek::eek:
I can hardly remember a village either in France and especially Spain without a bar. Anyway there's a mall halfway between SJPdP and Valcarlos. Stock up, for Gods sake ;)

Buen Camino Heda! I've only driven the Valcarlos route and it was beautiful. I do hope to have a chance to walk it someday.

I walked the Valcarlos route in April 2015 and absolutely loved it! I am doing the Frances route again this coming April and I can't wait! I will once again choose the Valcarlos route as it has great memories for me and more solitude. I came down to Roncevalles warm and dry, while the other group were wet and cold, with mud on their pants. I'm sure the Napoleon route is spectacular, but as my mother used to say, "You don't miss what you don't know."...and I say, "If it aint broke, why fix it." ;)

We have a "conversation" started with some folks starting in SJPP about the same time. I will invite you, if you want to join that conversation.
