Leon to Santiago April 201

Hi, is anyone traveling from Leon to Santiago in April 2018?
Is April busy, are all albergues open by that time? I'm a solo female traveler, I have read many posts about safety and etc, but I'd still love any advice or just some tips, anything is welcome.

April is good. Easter is early this year, so everything will be open. Expect rain!

Yes, expect rain. And where there is rain, expect MUD! God, I hate mud! But, it quite literally comes with the territory.

Also, if you can, download Eltiempo.es+ from the Android or Apple app store. I have found it to be the BEST weather app for any named place in Spain. Evidently, the national government weather service has a series of small, self-contained weather monitoring sensor stations all over the country. Eltiempo + is their app. The information in the app is updated throughout the day.

So, for getting valid, timely weather and forecasts for virtually any named place in Spain, this is the app to go to, at least IMHO.

TIPS:
- If the app suggests a 30% chance of showers, expect very scattered sprinkles.
- Once the probability of precipitation hits about 60%, plan on rain.
- Use the metric temperature and wind velocity scales, as all around you do.

Oh, right the mudy paths are terrible,I can only hope it wont be too rainy

Last year about 25 pilgrims a day started from León during the month of April and all the albergues should be open as Easter is early this year so should have plenty of company without having to fight for beds.

On our first Camino, my husband and I started in Leon. It was June, so different weather, but Leon is a nice starting point. It is easy to get to, so you'll likely find other people who start there too. It's pretty easy to spot other pilgrims since they'll be the people in hiking clothes My advice is that if you find some pilgrims hanging out, just go up and introduce yourself. Anybody who is just starting out will likely be happy to know another newbie, and those who have been walking for a while are generally quite happy to welcome you to the tribe.
