    Post Camino Luggage ex MAD

Have a great time Robo. There was plastic wrapping available in Madrid last October. We put our wooden staffs in a fishing rod fabric container and they met us safe and sound in Brisbane. We also sent them over that way. Buen Camino (every day we think and talk about our Camino)

    Advice for day 1

There is a shuttle service that will take you from Orisson back to SJPDP for the night and then return you back to Orisson about 8.30 the next morning. We did that last September. Check with Express Bouricott.

    Class of 2014...In Review

We left behind our life sadness at Cruz de Ferro. We told the story of Miracle Man's operation (my husband) to walk the Camino with me and it inspired others. We look at our photos and fantastic memory board and can't believe we actually did it. Everyday we say "remember that place, person...

    Arrived - timing

It's written on the calendar already And we have bought Camino T shirts to wear !!!! The only problem is our little Westie dog as I have missed her but I think the Mudjimba Caravan Park is dog friendly so if I can't bear to be parted from her so soon she might just have to come too.

    Arrived - timing

We were blessed today to see the Botafumerio, apparently the third day in a row it has happened, and the tears I cried were tears of joy. At those private moments no photos are needed!! How do you photo a contented heart? We still can't believe we have actually walked all the way from St...

    Arrived - timing

Arrived yesterday in Santiago after walking in rain, mud etc from O'Pedrouzo. Hardest day we have had. Arrived at cathedral where protesters were assembled in front of cathedral so no nice pictures that I had imagined!!! All I could do was laugh because at Cruz de Ferro where I wanted other...

    The last 100 km

We are in Melide and have been surprised at the lack of numbers generally and particularly newbies since Sarria. We found greater numbers walking from SJPP to Burgos. Lots of pilgrims opted to bus over the Meseta but we really enjoyed it and there were very few pilgrims around us for days...

Continuing while there still is light

Margaret you are a source of inspiration and information. Every other day on our Camino I say 'now Margaret says about this part ' ..... our very own Brierley! I actually brought notes of alternative routes and places to see that you recommended. We are in Melide, not far from Santiago now...

Advice please? looking for ´the spiritual side´between Sarria nd Santiago

This was the highlight of our Camino today. We were walking from Portomarin to Palais de Rei and I needed a break. Their welcome was so genuine that we just had to stop there. The atmosphere was just pure love. They were excited because we came from Australia and when I explained about...

    Severe tummy bug

The water out of the tap at the pension at Portomarin last night was brown so we opted for bottled water just in case!

Ebola in Spain: It has started to spread within.

Before we left Australia on the 1st September a friend asked 'is it wise to travel given the state of the world ?'. If we had thought that way we would have missed out on 6 wonderful weeks- one more to go then we will go home and tell them of our wonderful camino tales!

    Severe tummy bug

Pleased to hear you are feeling better. Hope the rest of your camino is trouble free. We are in Sarria and have used tap water since SJPP without a problem. We usually boil our drinking water when away from home but realised it wasn't going to be easy to do that on the camino. In actual fact I...

    September 2014 Peregrinos

We have made it to Villafranca. I have sore hips from descent from Cruz de Ferro and think I have scar tissue on the site of a foot op 42 years ago on the ball of my foot. Nothing to see but it feels like a stone is there. Have put padding on it. We have met some beautiful camino angels. Only...

How to train for the Camino?

W we are currently in hontanas. We are in our mid 60s. Our advice would be to train on rocky ground because there is a lot more of that than we expected and therefore more twists on feet and boots. We trained on flat and hills but had no real off road conditions near us. Buen camino
