    Portuguese Route/pilgrim numbers

HI all. I have an opportunity to buy a property for an albergue along the Portuguese Route. Actually looking at 2 - one on the coastal route and on on the traditional/inland route. Obviously before spending on such an investment, I am wondering the pilgrim numbers. Which route (number wise) is...

COVID COVID Notice for staying in hotels and restaurants in Portugal

I did a self test to go into a restaurant in Porto 2 weeks ago. It wasn't so bad. They are small and light weight. Carry a few on you in case needed to check into a place. I will do that. In Porto they cost about €2.50each.

COVID COVID Notice for staying in hotels and restaurants in Portugal

SO I live in Porto. Since they introduced this new rule (can only eat outside on weekends without the covid vaccine certificate). There is the option though to do the self test on arrival at the restaurant and we actually did that for a place that had no outside seating that we really wanted to...

Road 25k Different from Trail 25k

In much the same way as a day of uphill (calf muscle strain, breathing) is different to a day of downhill (bruised toes, upper thigh strain, wobbly legs), so practicing all road surfaces and elevations helps. Oh and I now live in Porto (3 months now) where there are hills everywhere, which is...

    Ibuprofen side effects

Hi Gill That would be me! And it was 2014 not 2013... I still can't take the sun. They say the effects can last up to 20 years! I actually got skin cancer 2 years later, luckily all removed, but I'm sure it was triggered by that.

    Ibuprofen side effects

I got another terrible side effect. I did my camino in July 2014. At the time I was living in Thailand but I am from South Africa - so I am very used to the heat and sun, and hardly ever got sunburned. However... on camino, even though I was lathering on 50 factor suncream, I got so badly burnt...

    Which cities to "skip"?

There is a much prettier alternative to entering Burgos, via parkland. It was really great, other than the local 'flasher' who caught us unaware!

How much weight did you actually carry?

I didn't weigh individual items, but packed everything and then weighed it. So it included one set of clothes, as the other was being worn, if that makes sense?

How much weight did you actually carry?

With a good smart phone, you won't need the camera and the Garmin, as it has both. And won't need a guide book. I didn't need gloves, but then I walked in summer.

How much weight did you actually carry?

only a silk liner. Real silk, got it from a company in Vietnam... http://www.silkliners.com/ 150g and so comfortable... and really pretty! Hey, who says you can't have pretty things on the Camino? I just bought well. Tech fibre is light. My fleece was 120g. Wind jacket even less than that. No...
