40km+ a day burgos to leon diet?

I'm not sure if you're asking about food choices or calorie count. In the end the first almost ends up a function of the second. Ten hours of walking is going to require a fairly large calorie intake. You need that "garbage". Chocolate, ice cream. I'd avoid the crisps because the bags are mostly...

Aussie or Euro vs US sunscreen

Small tubes like that are going to be "travel" format aimed at the airport carry on limits. You can buy much bigger bottles for less. Obviously different brands will have different prices. No names will be a fraction then the brands aimed at the higher end. But even the more expensive brands...

    Day Pack Sizes/Styles/Brands

What are you putting in it? 12 litres is already in the small part of the shop . The 5 litre etc ones are basically little more then a place to put your car keys and wallet. I'd suggest packing it with what you intend to carry for the day and seeing. But I doubt you'd gain anything going...

How much water to carry and cooking along the way

Weather matters. If it's really hot I can drink 6 litres a day. Plus what I get from my food. I'm still only barely hydrated. If it's cold I might only need 1 litre and be well hydrated. There are so many problems that come from being dehydrated.

Checking Backpacks or Taking as Carry-ons

They might want to explain that to the private companies running those services. Very few private companies are run for charity

Checking Backpacks or Taking as Carry-ons

Well many European trains are actually quicker point to point then flying. Factor in the time needed to get to and from the airport and the trains end up that much quicker. The trains tend to compete with the airlines on price in Europe. With in each country it's often cheaper and quicker to...

Recommended Help with Muscle Pain (DMSO?)

Stretching can do more harm then good. What the OP mentions sounds like DOMs. Delayed onset muscle soreness. Usually related to over using previously under used muscles. If it is DOMs it'll go away when your body adapts. You might want to consider not starting at 22km but easing into things...

Checking Backpacks or Taking as Carry-ons

Remember this is an international forum. Some people are taking transatlantic flights with a set of rules. Others of us are taking EU flights with different rules. Then every airline is different. Then you have the gate attendant letting you by in spite of being oversized. Check what YOUR...

Money Belt, Bum Bag or Neck Pouch

Your money belt should be under your clothing. I'm repeating myself

Money Belt, Bum Bag or Neck Pouch

I think you're misunderstanding how to use a money belt. The idea of a money belt is to use it like a safe. Put most of your stuff in the belt. The belt under your clothes. You should almost never need to access your belt during the day. The money etc for the day would be in your wallet or...

Are 100% cotton T shirts the answer

I have a couple of those also. They're lighter then you expect and warmer. Maybe not the best choice for extreme cold weather but if you layer good enough for most everything else

Phone charging and theft; walking in the dark; liner or bag?

Some of the newer phones come with rapid chargers. 30 minutes or less and you'll get a fair bit of a charge. Not 100% but it's fast .

Phone charging and theft; walking in the dark; liner or bag?

I know you're joking but there is. What happens is they use your phone to ring pay lines. You get billed for each call . Quite a bit. I think the UK companies have brought out ways to limit the damage but people in the past got some very expensive bills

Are 100% cotton T shirts the answer

http://www.decathlon.co.uk/helium-ss-t-shirt-green-id_8298887.html That's the short sleeved summer version of the ones I was thinking about. With the fleece you mentioned you'd wear some thing underneath. For the winter and layering they're all good :)

Are 100% cotton T shirts the answer

Which ones? The ones for about €12 are the "high" tech ones. They fit tight. The cheaper ones I can't remember what they're made of (I could go look in the storage box -)) but they fit looser. Aren't quite as warm. I think they take longer to dry. The tech ones come out of the washing machine...

Are 100% cotton T shirts the answer

Decathlon brand winter type (long sleeve heavier) are I think €12 might be 14. The summer weight stuff is I think €8.

    Signage at Bus/Train Stations?

Airports will always have some English. OTOH even if they didn't all you're really looking for is city name, flight number and airline on the boards. The main thing if in doubt ask . Ask multiple people if needed.

    Gratuities

One thing to add is in touristy areas the staff may be used to North Americans tipping and expect it. But outside of that it's not normal. Okay second thing to add. The leaving the change goes both ways. If the bill is 50.10 you might see the owner only take €50. All that small change is a...
