On the way to A Laxe

(Live on the Camino, but I don't know how to post with that tag) The Camino Sanabres winds through small stone villages and along vast green pastures rimmed in stone walls. Sometimes you walk on Roman roads. Beautiful countryside! Just before A Lax I saw this added to the top of a stone wall...

    Santiago accomodations

Mods: please move this thread to wherever it belongs and/or give me links to threads about this. Thanks! I will be in Santiago on Apr. 28-30. Usually I have stayed at zthe Last Stamp, but they seem to be full on those dates. What are some other recommendations near the Cathedral?

Lost & Found LOST (Now found!) PACER POLES BEFORE CEA

I left them on the trail about 4-5 k before Cea I expect to be in Santiago on April 27-28. Mu email is written on the sides of the poles (for just this eventuality). If you find them and we can meet up, I would love to have them back! If that doesn't work, please keep and enjoy them. Pacerless...

    Which route out of Ourense?

One route looks a bit steeper, one a bit longer (not much). How else are they different? Recommendations?

    Requejo to Lubian (Camino Sanabres)

After Requejo, you pass thru a little town, Padornelo and then by a gas station with a bar. You follow N-525 for a short way and then come to a turn off to the right, leading to Aciberos. There are several large, classic Camino signs pointing to down that turn off to the right. @geraldkelly...

Up to date C. Sanabres info?

My daughter just has a few weeks off so we flew to Portugal to visit my brother in Braga, then he drove us up to Puebla de Sanabria to walk the Camino Sanabres. Tomorrow we start walking, but I have some concerns. I have the 2024 Wise Pilgrim guide, Gerald Kelly's new book on VdlP/Sanabres...

US International Phone plan or Spanish SIM card while on the Camino?

Call me dense, but I always get confused using a Spanish SIM card while on the Camino. And I always deplete it sooner than I expect and I have to find a place to fill it up again. I just saw this on the Verizon site. I just want data, as I can use Whatsapp for calls. Texts are free. Why...

    Route to Oseira

Are there other reasons to take this alternate route on the Sanabres, other than the monasterio?

    Choice of variants on Sanabres

I'll be walking Camino Sanabres this April from Puebla de la Sanabria. I see on Gronze that there are a couple of splits in the Camino with different routes. I'd like to hear others' experiences/recommendations about which way to turn at the forks in the road.

    Roman mile markers on Sanabres?

I will be walking from Puebla de Sanabria to Santiago in the spring. I know that route follows some Roman roads. Are there any Roman mile markers that anyone has seen?

History/Interesting things to see on the Sanabres?

My daughter and I are going to walk from Puebla de Sanabria to Santiago on the Sanabres (she doesn't have a lot of time) this spring. Gerald Kelly's guidebook for VdLP and the Sanabres is a wealth of info about accomodations and other facilities available in towns along the way, restaurants...

    Braga to Porto

Has anybody walked this, going south? Would that be hard to navigate? What's it like?

    La Plata in 20k stages?

I remember at some point somebody posted an intinerary of the La Plata with shorter stages. I generally can't do more than about 20k a day. Can somebody post this again? I really want to do this route. I think I would start in Merida. Am not opposed to taking a bus or taxi when needed. Thanks!

Camino del Ebro, starting in Zaragoza

Hi y'all (that's a term from the Southern US for "Vosotros" (plural "you") which we are sorely lacking in English. We have a variety of regional terms for the plural "you" in the US: in California, it's "you guys," in parts of New York City it's "youze" in parts of Pennsylvania it is "Yinz."...

    Ukulele training

I am starting La Plata from Merida toward the end of March 2022. Yes, I'm doing some long walks in preparation. But I'm also practicing my ukulele, which I plan to bring along. Can't wait!

    Chaco Odyssey Sandals?

I love my basic Chaco sandals.. have walked hundreds of miles in them (getting them re-strapped or re-soled when necessary). Chaco makes a closed toe sandal call the Odyssey. I like the concept, but they seem kind of lightweight to me. I'm just wondering if anyone here has walked any distance...

La Plata from Merida in March 2022

Is there still a calendar in this forum? I can't seem to find it. Planning to leave Merida on La Plata on around March 22 or 23. I'd like to see who else will be where at that time.
