Just a bit of a warning about the Camino Frances route into Santiago.
Not sure if this has already been flagged on the site, but there is a music festival taking place on 30th May at Monte do Gozo. For those who don't know, this is about 4km outside the city on the way in if you are coming in...
Hi all, I know that this has been covered before, but wondered what the current state of play is with the Camino Ninja app.
Is it back to being updated again?
I know other apps/websites are out there, but I just like Ninja!
I'll probably use it, even if it's still in it's 'frozen' state...
Hi, I'm walking SdC -Finisterre -Muxia- SdC at the start of June and wondered if anyone had experience ( preferably recent) of accommodations along the way. I won't be rushing ( it's an age thing) so allowing myself 7 - 10 days.
I plan (and we all know what happens to Camino plans!🙃) on using...
Hi all,
I fly into Santiago on 23rd May and start walking from Ferrol the following day.
Is there direct public transport. ( apart from taxi's!€£$!!)?
Think I might have to go into Santiago itself.
Follow up question - rail or bus??
Thanks for any input 👍
Hi, I'm flying into Santiago on 23rd May and wanted to catch a bus across to Ferrol on the same day, ready to start walking on the 24th.
I've searched RometoRio, Flixbus, Alsa and Monbus and they all say 'no buses', or words to that effect
I wondered if it's because summer schedules haven't been...
I'm flying into Santiago on 23rd May and land mid-morning. I start from Ferrol, walking the Camino Ingles the following day with some friends who are travelling in a lot later than me.
Sort of torn between spending the day I fly in wandering around Santiago (5th time there, though) or getting...
Hi, finally getting around to walking through to Finisterre this May ( after Camino Ingles).
Any of you give any indicators as to whether to walk to Muxia first, then on to Finisterre, or to walk to Finisterre then onto Muxia.
Any experiences that could help me make the decision very welcome...
First World problem; but I wish pilgrims wouldn't upload Vlogs on YouTube titled 'Coastal Camino' when the content is about the Camino Litoral . .
(Moanng about trivial things is an age thing . . . forgive me🙃)
Buen Camino everyone
The answer is. . . There isn't one . . All the tips you see on this site are great, but it just means that one approach worked for whoever created the post.
Trial and error is the only way to discover what works for you
(preferably BEFORE you start your Camino!🤣)
Love to all, and Buen Camino
Hi I'm planning on doing the coastal route next year and see that the John Brierley guidebook gives options and wondered if anyone had any recommendations.
I don't want to stay on the Literal beyond Vila da Conde, and don't want to cross to the Central route too early as I've done that route...
Top Tip number 3 ? . . .
Avoid looking for accommodation at 'the bottom of that page' in the guide book. Much as I love John Brierly's guidebooks, lots of pilgrims blindly follow the suggested stages, and end up looking for somewhere to stay in the same town/village.
Jus before or just after...
I made the mistake of pre-booking a flight home before I went on the Camino Portuguese. Basically, I've allowed to much time even with doing the Variente Espiritual.
I walk into Santiago tomorrow (Weds) and fly home to the uk on Sunday afternoon. Not enough time to do the route to Finisterre/...
In a perfect world, everyone would interact with strangers in the same way as one pilgrim does with another.
When I am elected to power, this would be at the top of my agenda. Vote for me!!!🙃🙂
Just a small piece of information that other walkers on the Central Route might find useful.
Last year, after a long day (by my standards), walking from Rates to Barcelos, I decided to push on to Tamel. This is a pretty steep incline, which was made more obvious by the 25c temperature that day...
Hi all, I'm a reasonably experienced Camino Pilgrim and setting off on my 4th Camino in September.
I have always used Leukatape to prevent blisters forming; this has worked well in the past. However on my last Camino (Portuguese Central Route) last May I fell out of love with it.
I was...
Hi all, bit of a dilemma; I know that routes are personal choice, but thought I'd put this out there.
I did SJPDP to Santiago in 2016, Roncenvalles (cunningly avoiding the Pyrenees!) to Santiago in 2017, and Portugues Central route from Porto to Santiago last May,
I am going to get my fix of...
Hi all, I have a little Camino experience (SJPDP TO Santiago 2016, Roncesvalles to Burgos 2017, and Porto to Santiago last year) so shouldn't really have to ask this; but here goes.
I normally carry 2 spare sets of waking shirts/tops but wondered if I only 'need' them just because I have them...
Just watching a 'Rob's Camino' video on YouTube. He says he never walks without poles, but recommends taking a sun umbrella??
I have done three Caminos an always use poles. Confused as to how the mechanics of using poles whilst carrying an umbrella actually works . .
I'm on a medication now...
Hi all, it's been over 5 years since I walked the CF and my Brierley's looking suitably tired and out of date (an omen?😄).
Planning on doing a sizable chunk of the CF later this year and want to update my guide book.
Question is, kindle version or physical book?
Any thoughts/experiences of what...
