Re the bugs, I was bitten (alot) when I walked in May of this year. I can't remember exactly which alberques, but it seemed to be less of a problem the further on I went. Some people never got bitten and others were feasted on, while others only had a few bites.
Make sure that you shake...
The town was San Justo, just before Astorga. The camino winds down a hill into this town, which is where he was sitting on a bench, wore a hat, the same type a lot of elderly Spanish men wear. I estimate him to be in his late seventies. He had at least one, perhaps two canes, and he was...
When considering where to start, I would like to point out something that I had not considered before I started my Camino.
If you skip stages by taking a bus or a train, you will be meeting a whole new group of people each time.
Given the wonderful people that I got to know along the way...
Bright Eyes, do you mean alberques or the hostels which are two different things.
In the alberques, their was always a place to do laundry, some even had machines to do the work. Don't forget your clothes pins! I lost a couple of articles of clothing to the wind on my camino.
Hopefully...
Just completed the camino frances and I did go alone. There are so many people on the camino frances right now, that there is almost always another pilgrim in sight.
I always felt safe, however I did have one experience that I don't believe I would have had, was I not a female walking alone...
I am holding up well, but starting to get a cold, so probably going to take a rest day tomorrow. Weather has been cold and very windy. Thankfully, not much mud past Burgos.
Very sadly, we have lost two pilgrims recently, a German man had a heartattack in the alberque in Najera, and a woman...
Thanks ladies, I have managed to replace my missing items. In Estella now, arrived early so lots of room at the alberque. Am looking forward to the wine fountain.
Weather is beautiful!

Ok, so I am only as far as Puente La Reina, but after Roncesvalles, it does not seem so busy. Yes there are lots of pilgrims, but I see that as more opportunity for help if I need anything.
None of the alberques that I have stayed in have been full yet.
Will keep you posted.

The walk here was beautiful, breathtaking. The weather today was great, sunny but not too hot, and the best part is no rain.
Was going to check into a hotel today but decided I would miss the company of the other pilgrims, so here I am at the alberque. Getting used to the pilgrim routine...
Made it to Cizur Minor, much better walking today, not near as much mud. So far rain every day except the first, hiking boots, walking stick and rain gear are a must.
Got lost in Pamplona. Lots of room in all the alberques, even though I have been arriving mostly after 3pm.
Today...
Hi everyone
Just arrived, having stayed at Orrison last night. Yesterday was beautiful, sunny and warm, and the views were breathtaking. Today, the weather was not so nice, very windy, rain, mud, fog.
Made it here in just over 4 hours, the weather was so bad, that I needed to keep moving...
Hello all;
The countdown is finally at the end, and I am leaving very early tomorrow. Yeah!! One more sleep :!: It is wonderful to be able to go, I have been ready for a week
I want to thank everyone so much, without this forum all and the help, I don't know what I would have done. :wink...
Thank you everyone, just goes to show you are never alone on the Camino. I appreciate all the responses, and most of all the support. I'm beginning to believe that the planning and logistics are sometimes the hardest part of the camino :!:
Once I start, everything will just flow as it is...
Oh boy, :oops: I haven't even started yet, and I am planning to bus a small part of the Meseta, only because I will be short on time. I don't want to miss any of it, it is just a matter of a time constraint.
So, given that I will have two or three days to make up, I chose the part from...
Hello all;
I just spent an hour on the internet trying to obtain tourist map of SJPP, with no luck. I know that they give you one when you register at the Pilgrim Office, but first I need to get there from the train station, so that doesn't help me.
Does anyone have this info, and/or can...

You may want to look at the ultralight sleeping bags. I just purchased a mummy style down bag that compresses into a bag the size of a football and weighs a mere pound. It is temperature rate to 32 degrees.
