1 months from today... it's really happening

Time of past OR future Camino

I did not expect to get butterflies already... but I am going through a roller coaster of emotions. This is not my first Camino, so until a few days ago, I actually have been rather low key about it. I have helped others to get ready for their Camino and keep following via facebook or blogs and feel happy and excited for them, especially when all the talking we did is working out well.

So, this morning, the magic 1st of the month rolls around and it hits me... July 1st will be my day; And all of a sudden, I go through a host of emotions. Hubby says, are you nervous.. I say, just a bit.. he says, good, I was wondering, you have been so quiet about it.

My pre-Camino check list is rather simple.... pack the old backpack with the stuff from last time, minus the warm clothing. Make a decision about tech gear (still unsure). Keep up the walks as the mood strikes me.. I am remarkable ok after a 15-20km walk, even the little hills don't bother me that much anymore. My leg healed fine (I don't know why people still worry)

Try to negotiate with Dr. that I might not need to take that stupid med whilst there... the difference of being 60 and 63, darnit.

Ticket: check, Insurance: check, Money: check, contact info of friends on Camino: check, stuff for hospitalera duties: check.

What else is there but to know, that each day is taking me closer to my departure, and once I have arrived on the Camino, it will be like a home coming... a daily celebration of life, magic, friendship and Camino blessings.

Have a great walk! Buen Camino.

I fly out on Sunday for Spain so I am tidying up my place so I have somewhere decent to come home to, as well as washing and packing. IT all got real when my walking dates started coming up on the 10 day weather forecast. It's hot this week but rain is expected over the weekend and when I arrive. So lower temperatures than I expected. Maybe I'll take that sweatshirt after all!

Hi Ingrid, life is most definitely beautiful and BUSY :) - Jam (James my son) and I will arrive just 3 days ahead of you and will have to get cracking as we have limited time to walk the camino but now totally counting the days - so very excited and somewhat struggling to sort the rest of life as day dreaming of the camino and reading the forum seems a very fun place to be hehe happy last few days preparations and may your chat with the Dr go well - as for me - painting the dining room to tick of the list ;)

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
As Waka says, you both are very lucky. I as well have three months to go before I start....It will come fast for me though I suspect as it has for both of you. Buen Camino.

Hi Ingrid, live is beautiful. Wish you well and a Buen Camino, Peter.

Best wishes for a great Camino.
I'm suffering from Camino-envy this SpringSummer as I reflect on last year.
I can't say we had the perfect Camino experience, but definitely want to go back - hooked.

Lol Butterfly, all of May I renovated 2 bedrooms and a bathroom... because i had to occupy my mind with something other than Camino.... was the only way to discipline myself to do ANYTHING... Wishing you and your son a most wonderful pilgrimage. Buen Camino

DowtyCamino, I waited 3 years for my next turn... and yes I wanted to walk each year. Just as they say on the Camino you get what you need, not necessarily what you want. Life can be like that too. When it is time again... you will know and there will be little that will keep you from coming back.

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
On our Camino I was half tourist and half pilgrim. I think if I get back I'll be able to be more pilgrim. My wife and I have decided that we will volunteer for a week as a Hospitalero/a on our next trip and I think that time of service will be important.

DowtyCamino, usually you need to carve out 2 weeks to be a volunteer hospitalera/o.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.
