100km marker in Vigo? Where is it?

Time of past OR future Camino
Somewhere July 23
Is there a 100km Marker in Vigo? Or where is the 100km marker for the Portuguese Costal. I will be starting in Vigo, continue to the Spiritual Variant and up to Santiago in June. I am really looking forward to it with my 83 year old father!

The 9th edition the Lightfoot Guide will let you complete the journey your way.
There are different places to start in Vigo but the most common is the Church of Santiago de Vigo, which is located in the most central street of Vigo García Barbón Street .
try to get a stamp at the church and do not forget to get another stamp on the same day somewhere else. ( arestaurant, bar, petrolstation, church etc ) you need 2stamps a day at the last 100 kms to qualify for a Compostela.

That's an excellent question! Vigo Council have refused to signpost the Camino as they don't agree with the route proposed by the Galician Regional Government.

However, the Pilgrim Office confirmed that Vigo is 100 km from Santiago so you can start from there to get your Compostela.

For those that have done the official stage from Baiona to Vigo which is a bit of a dog's dinner, as it goes up over hills and all over the place, they may remember passing a point which is reputed to be the 100 km point! Here's a link in Google Maps
100km ata Compostela

Buen Camino!

THank you! yes, that is what I was looking for. Although, it doesn't seem to be quite on the route I was planning on taking out of Vigo. I might taxi there to get a picture. It looks like a nice view. So excited

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
I know that there is a 100 km marker (mojon) on the Camino Francés. I have even seen it and walked past it. I always understood it to be a milestone for the long distance peregrin@: from here it is only 100 km to your destination; you are nearly there.

I never understood it to be the starting block for the at-least-100-km-pilgrimage. Perhaps that is the reason why there are no such markers in towns (such as Lugo for example). For obtaining a Compostela, it is sufficient to show that you started in the town that is earmarked as the start for the minimum distance.

There is a KM100.000 marker in Lugo now
Thank you for this update. I always vacillate between being amused and being irritated by the precision on these Galician waymarkers: not 100 kilometres but 100 kilometres and 0 metres .

If memory does not fail me there used to be only a 99 km stone just outside Lugo which now and then caused some vivid discussions about where to start for a Compostela. Alas, this is now obviously another thing of the past. 😇
