Hello everyone this is my first time on El Camino, I have 12 days excluding those/from the start and Santiago. I was thinking of starting at Pontfredda, does that sound right, or could I do more? Thank you for advice, Aliwalks

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
Ponferrada is good, though it is a "standard" nine days. Astorga is 12 days if you want to press a bit. Leon is probably too far. Buen camino.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

Hi Aliwalks I just walked from Ponferrada to Santiago in 9 days (started a Tuesday and arrived Wendesday next week). I'm 65 and not specially fit. I would say that a resting day, say in Melide, would've been nice. Anyway I enjoyed immensely my Camino. Last advice: pack lightly and if not in dire financial straits use Jaco Trans (every single hotel or albergue knows how to contact them in the Camino) for your backpack. Buen Camino!!

I walked from Ponferrada to SdC in 9 days. I would say that for you Ponferrada would be a good starting point, that way you have room for a rest day and a couple of days in SdC at the end of your camino to soak up the atmosphere and relax!

Buen camino

Hi, I'm on the Camino at the moment, walking from Ponferrada to Santiago in 9 days. If you're of average or good fitness, Astorga might be a better starting point.
Buen Camino!
