1st timer starting out April 13th in St. Jean

Hi there,

My name is Angela and I'm honestly really nervous now that the time is drawing closer. I will arrive in St. Jean for my 1st camino on the 12th and plan to spend the night there then begin the trek on the morning of the 13th. Mostly nervous because I don't speak Spanish and I just bought my hiking shoes. That and the posts about bedbugs on this forum have me more nervous than the two above mentioned issues! - not sure what to do about that one... Anyway, just hoping to get through the first few days and meet some great people.

Please let me know if you have any advice for a newbie walking alone.

Thanks and buen camino! :)

Angela

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
Hey Angela,
Another solo newbie here, I'm arriving in Toulouse on April 11th probably gonna begin walking April 13th...I have new boots too, they're purple...Should be easy to spot me! Lol. I've been trying to break them in. Living in them morning to night , so far so good.
Hope to see you on the road!

Hi Angela & Rebecca!
Just a quickie to wish you well on your Camino.
You have chosen the French Camino, so will have plenty of company and, I am sure, have a great time.
I think the only "bug" you may catch is the "Camino Bug" and, having done the French route, will want to come back time and time again to try the other, quieter routes!
Don't worry. Have no fear - there's nothing to worry about! Just relax and enjoy the experience of a lifetime!
I'm starting off from Salamanca in three weeks time....
Buen camino!
