Not sure if this is the best way to ask. So if a better way give a yell and I'll follow the rules . The message goes out to those planning to start their trip September 24th. I was wondering where you are staying the night of the 23rd so maybe we could meet and say hello. I will be traveling with my 24 year old daughter. thanks.

@7wood? @movinmaggie? @Kathy Beno? @tomnorth? Are you monitoring this thread? Could you meet up with Celeste?

Hi, I will not start this year anymore but I wish you both well and a Buen Camino, Peter.

Put me down for starting from SJPDP on August 31. I'm plan to finish in Santiago around October 3 or earlier.

Hello fellow pilgrims! I land in Biarritz on Sept 1st at 2pm if anyone wants to share a ride via www.biarritzairporttransfers.com to SJPP. I'm going to attempt to haul my hieny up and over to Roncesvalles on Sept 2nd. Orrison sounds like a great idea, but it's booked. So all my humming and hawing, trying to decide what to do, is now a non-issue. Buen Camino everyone! Thanks for this thread, Sarah.

Hi Pete and welcome! Have added you to our list now, get ready for one of the best experiences of your life!

Hi Lori and welcome to the thread and list. The great majority of pilgrims get to Roncesvalles in one day, I did the first time, took me 9 hours because I am slow uphill with really short legs! But I survived and was tired but recovered quickly and was keen and sprightly the next day!

Wishing you the most amazing adventure!
Buen camino

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Hi Sarah, I think I originally indicated that I would start my walk Sept 24 (which is what is on your list). I had missed a day somewhere; I am actually beginning in St. on Sept 25. Sorry for any inconvenience. The list is such a great help to identify others. Thanks. Maggie

No worries Maggie I can edit the list anytime, hope you are well and enjoying the anticipation leading up to leaving?
I'm really glad I started the list it shows just how popular September is, and yet there are so many pilgrims out there who don't take part in the forum and miss out on the wealth of information available here???

I was recently introduced by a mutual friend, to a woman who just returned from the Camino. She had no idea about the forum! I couldn't believe it, so I was regaling her with praise of the forum. With that, she contacted our coordinator here in Victoria to not only offer her help with the annual gathering pilgrims here in Victoria, bc, but to also train for volunteering on the Camino. It was meant to be. She is familiarizing me with many of the steeper trails here in Victoria, so now we are fast friends and hiking buddies. Don't you love when stuff like this happens??

The 9th edition the Lightfoot Guide will let you complete the journey your way.

Yes I do!!! You must have heard of the saying 'the camino provides'? .........meaning - just what you need and when you need it, it's already happening to you and you are not even there yet!
I just know you are going to have a great camino!

Hi Pete, it's a nice time of the year to walk the Camino. My wife did it at the same time in 2013. I wish you a great time and a Buen Camino, Peter.

Hi Lori and welcome, sorry for you that the albergue Orisson is booked. The walk over the Pyrenees is wonderful. It's a great begin of your journey. I wish you well and a Buen Camino, Peter.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.

Thank you for the encouragement, Sarah! That first day makes me nervous. But I have to keep reminding myself that I've done longer days before in higher altitudes, so I just have to chill out, put one foot in front of the other, and repeat until I make it. Thank you for the welcome, too. xo

Thank you, Peter! I guess I was just meant to experience that leg in one day. That's what I get for booking last min.

Hi Sonia! Sweet. What time are you leaving Bayonne? Who knows, maybe we'll be there at the same time and can share the ride. Other than that, I'm sure I'll see you on the trail.

St James' Way - Self-guided 4-7 day Walking Packages, Reading to Southampton, 110 kms

There's a saying .... a young South American guy told me 'with patience and persistence the mountain can be climbed' not sure who the quote comes from originally, quite a famous one I think? But exactly right for all of your camino. Sometimes or even often we are impatient and also we don't persist, we can tend to give up too easily. The camino will teach you both of these things.
The first day makes everyone nervous but once you have done it the sense of achievement is amazing!!!
Buen camino

So glad to be a part of the September group. I provided inaccurate information, however. I leave for Spain 9/1, begin walking from SJPP on 9/3. Many thanks.

Sonia, if you don't mind, I'd love to know how on earth you got Express Bourricot to get back to you - I've used their form twice and written a separate email a third time and heard NOTHING in several days.

BethC, have the same issue...suspect she may have something keeping her from responding. I used her last year and got a response back the next day. Hopefully all is well with her. I guess we both need to give her a little time. I don't fly in until mid-September so I have some time to play with. Best of luck to you.

Thank you for telling me! Fortunately there are 4 other taxi services in SJPP - problem is, I'll be off phone service for that 12 hour period in SJPP, so I hope she responds! I know people really like her service.

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.

Hi Beth, I just complete the form on the website and received an email from Caroline informing me about the current state of booking for my date. And if I'm ok, I will need to send an email to confirm the booking. The first email from Caroline took a couple of days, maybe 2. This was last week about 25 Jul.

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
OK thanks, Siom! Maybe she hasn't forgotten about me. Hopefully she's alright. I'll probably see you on the road.

We arrive in Bayonne by train from Paris at 3:30pm and our taxi/bus will there to pick us up at 3:40pm. So we will be in SJPP just before 5pm. I'm sure our paths will cross at some point,

Wow, that's surprising! I filled out the form a few weeks ago and sent it, I got a response the following day. The next updated list for Sept requests that she posts online will be up shortly(Aug 1), she might just be swamped with requests for early sept. Don't give up, keep trying.

I will be leaving Bayone about the 19th of September and walking via the Voie de la Nive to SJPP . I plan to leave there about the 24th of September

Hope to see you. Where are you staying in SJPdP?

I fly in to Pamplona on the 6th and spend the night a Pensión Corazón Puro who will then drop me off in SJPdP on the morning of the 7th. That evening I have reservations for Orrison.

I am planning on leaving the 17th if I can get a bed at Orisson. If I can't then the date may change to a bit earlier. I arrive in Spain on the 8th, spending a bit of time in San Sabastian and then heading to SJPP on the 15th. I have a flight home on the 29th of October. Honestly, I am not sure how long I will need.

That is really cool. I arrive in Paris on the 10th and hoping to start from SJPP 14 or 15 of September.

I think I will just miss you Sarah. I will be staying at Gite Ultreia on the 16th and Orisson on 17th - I got a bed - yay! Then I have booked Corazon Puro on 19th, and I will be in Pamplona on 22nd (I fly home from Bilbao on 23rd). Hopefully you will catch me up somewhere. I will look out for your backpack!

That's great Julia! I'm sure your camino will be enhanced by not taking on too much the first day and spending a night in the Pyrenees is going to be amazing!
I probably won't catch you, I'm slow! I blame the short legs I inherited!?!
Have a wonderful journey

Hello Kathi, We may well see you on the Camino. We were in your neck of the woods earlier this summer. Our younger son ran the Western States 100 mile Endurance Race: Squaw Valley to Auburn. Amazing! On training days when it's hot and I'm tired, I remind myself we will not be running 100 miles basically non-stop... Buen camino.

I'll be walking the Camino Frances with a friend, for 3 weeks starting mid September. Not sure where we will start yet, probably Logroño or Burgos.

Hope to catch up with some of you along the way.

Hello Sarah! I was inspired by this and a few other threads, and started a similar place to connect for November 2015 pilgrims (including those starting in late Oct/early Dec). I hope that's ok! Thanks for the inspiration and ideas

Hi Sandra nice to hear from you. I can't take credit I'm afraid the idea came from @DeadFred aka Joe last year. He started his amazing thread a whole year before travelling!

Of course it's OK! I just find it so much easier than the calendar, it's a simple list of names, can be edited easily and people can talk to each other on the thread. We can share transport and arrange to meet up and all talk about our excitement and/or fears and support each other. The excitement is really beginning to build up now as most of us GO next month!!!!

Hello Sarah!

Of course! How exciting! That's very soon, especially for those starting at the beginning of the month. I can only imagine how nervous and excited you all are!

I did see that Joe was the original brains behind the idea, so I made sure to thank him too To be honest, I haven't stumbled across the calendar yet, although I might try to find it just to check it out! I do like the expanded potential of a forum thread, though. It gives us all a much better chance to connect

Best of luck with everything!

Sandra

Hi
Hi Lori and welcome, sorry for you that the albergue Orisson is booked. The walk over the Pyrenees is wonderful. It's a great begin of your journey. I wish you well and a Buen Camino, Peter.
Hi Lori. I'm landing in Biarritz a couple of hours later on the 1st. and starting out from SJpp on 2nd. I did get into Orisson that night so I will be a bit behind you as you will be walking further than me that day. Hope to meet you in the trail. Lisa
