29th January 2017 from SJPDP

Time of past OR future Camino
None yet. Starting soon (2017)
This is my first camino: I will start in SJPDP in a few days. I would love to reach SDC at the end of February, provided the injuries respect me...

By the way, my wife will drive me to SJPDP from La Rioja on the early morning of January 29th; we could pick somebody up anywhere along this route (Logroño, Pamplona, Roncesvalles...).

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Buen Camino, Phileas.
Remember that the Napoleon route is closed until April. On the other side, the lower alternative is also a "classical", and the pretty Valcarlos village is a good resting point (and has good restaurants).
Enjoy (and be safe)

Valcarlos also has a fine well-heated small municipal albergue which is open all year and takes reservations. To reserve at the Valcarlos municipal albergue see
http://www.luzaide-valcarlos.net/.

When you arrive at 'the center' of Valcarlos near the church you will see the municipal building at Calle Elizaldea, 16. In the municipal building go upstairs to the Secretary's office to obtain the digicode to open and enter the nearby albergue door. The hospitalero comes by about 6pm.

Do be aware that from Valcarlos to Roncesvalles there are neither services nor water. Be prepared!
