During the first week in August an estimated 30,000 young people will take part in the Spanish International Youth Pilgrimage. They will walk at least 100 kms using a variety of routes and will arrive in Santiago on the weekend of 7 & 8 th August. Those who qualify will have a Compostela sent to them by post.
Tented villages, sport halls, community centre, church halls and schools are being opened to accommodate them.
In the last Holy Year 2004 almost 20,000 young people participated.
